An enclosure of a circuit breaker that includes an interior region and a pass-through. The interior region can be sized to house a circuit interrupter and a dielectric insulating medium. The pass-through can include a pathway having a first open end and a second open end, the first and second open ends being in direct fluid communication with each other through the pathway. The first and second open ends can be secured to the enclosure such that the pass-through is integral to the enclosure, such as, for example, being part of a monolithic structure or constructed to form a unitary body. Additionally, the pathway may not be in direct fluid communication with the interior region of the enclosure. Further, the pass-through can be offset from, or extend directly into, the interior region of the enclosure.

A sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) insulated circuit breaker system has a tank constructed to hold a quantity of SF6; a circuit breaker having contacts insulated by the SF6; a heater operative to supply heat to the SF6; and a thermal capacitor in conductive engagement with the tank, and operative to store heat energy and constructed to conduct the heat energy to the SF6 in the tank. A tank for a dead tank circuit breaker includes a body having an interior volume defined by an interior surface. A particle trap structure includes a pair of recessed surfaces in a bottom portion of the interior surface. Each recessed surface is disposed in spaced relation with respect to the interior surface so as to define a channel. A raised surface is spaced from the recessed surfaces and separates the recessed surfaces. The channels are constructed and arranged to trap foreign particles in the interior volume, with the raised surface being constructed and arranged to raise an electric field in the interior volume to be above the channels so as to eliminate electrical activity that would affect the particles in the channels.

Holding structure includes a gear rack member for coupling with an object for movement therewith. The gear rack member includes a set of a teeth and a cam profile surface. A latch is associated with the set of teeth so as to engage and disengage the teeth. A cam follower is fixed to the latch to engage the cam profile surface thereby defining the engaged or disengaged position of the latch with respect to the teeth. A spring provides torque on the latch. The holding structure is constructed and arranged such that during movement of the object in an intended direction, the latch engages the teeth and is held in the engaged position by the spring so as to stop any movement of the object in a direction that is opposite the intended direction, otherwise, the spring is constructed and arranged to hold the latch in the disengaged position.
