The present invention provides a sensitive, accurate, bioactive skin barrier/wafer usable in ostomy systems and wound drainage collectors for identification of pathogens at critical thresholds of presence on peristomal skin at stoma sites and exuding wounds before clinical signs and symptoms of infection present. A method of fabricating a bioactive skin barrier/wafer intended for identification of pathogen presence in ostomy systems is provided, that delivers a rapid response observable alert. The present invention utilizes biomarkers to detect pathogens in real time, where biomarkers are characteristics objectively measured as indicators of health, disease, or a response to an exposure or intervention, including therapeutic interventions.

A method for controlling fiber cross-alignment in a nanofiber membrane, comprising: providing a multiple segment collector in an electrospinning device including a first and second segment electrically isolated from an intermediate segment positioned between the first and second segment, collectively presenting a cylindrical structure, rotating the cylindrical structure around a longitudinal axis proximate to an electrically charged fiber emitter; electrically grounding or charging edge conductors circumferentially resident on the first and second segment, maintaining intermediate collector electrically neutral; dispensing electrospun fiber toward the collector, the fiber attaching to edge conductors and spanning the separation space between edge conductors; attracting electrospun fiber attached to the edge conductors to the surface of the cylindrical structure, forming a first fiber layer; increasing or decreasing rotation speed of the cylindrical structure to alter the angular cross-alignment relationship between aligned nanofibers in adjacent layers, the rotation speed being altered to achieve a target relational angle.

Method and apparatus for data file transfer using destination linked directories

A Postal Authority regulated e-Mail messaging application is provided over a public network to a plurality of mailers and addressees using authenticated transaction records. The application transmits at least one e-Mail message through at least one e-Mail account configured for a specific class of service. The application creates transaction records relevant to the specific class of service based upon details of completed transactions. Electronic postmarks are obtained to authenticate transaction records. Authenticated transaction records are sent to the mailer. A unique identifier of an electronic postmark is embedded in the e-Mail message. The e-Mail message incorporating the unique identifier is sent to at least one addressee. Authenticated e-Mail messages and transaction records are created and protected from undetectable modification.
