A transmission controller that includes a series of fluidic comparators receiving power signals from selected ports in a manually-actuable range selector valve. Hydraulic signals representing engine throttle position and transmission output speed are beamed against each comparator main flow stream to switch the flow between a primary collector port and alternate collector port. Comparator outputs are amplified and applied to the end faces of spool valves that provide hydraulic actuator force for the transmission clutches.

Fluidic transmission controller

A liquid telemetry system is disclosed useful for transmitting data through a fluid body by means of pulses in the fluid. To generate the pulses in the fluid the system utilizes a bi-stable fluid amplifier in conjunction with a vortex valve. Control input signals direct the flow of fluid from the bi-stable amplifier into the vortex valve in such manner as to selectively impede the flow of fluid through the vortex valve. The resulting changes in fluid flow rates generate pulses within the fluid body.

Fluidic mud pulser

A programmable fluid logic module is disclosed which provides an interface etween a plurality of fluid input signals in a pressure-to-electric transducer. The module is arranged so that a plurality of valves may be used to provide a particular combination of signals which result in the transmission of a desired signal from the module to a pressure-to-electric transducer.

Programmable fluidic pressure-to-electronic interface system

A mud pulse transmitter is presented for transmitting information by prese pulses to the surface during the drilling of a borehole. A vortex valve is controlled by a fluidic feedback oscillator to generate the mud pulses. The oscillator frequency may be varied or the oscillator turned on and off by valves in the feedback paths of the oscillator, thereby permitting the transmission of information.
