Electromechanical lock utilizing magnetic field forces. An actuator is moved () from a locked position () to an open position () by electric power. In the locked position (), a permanent magnet arrangement directs () a near magnetic field to block an access control mechanism to rotate, and simultaneously the permanent magnet arrangement attenuates () the near magnetic field towards a far magnetic break-in field originating from outside of the electromechanical lock. In the open position (), the permanent magnet arrangement directs () a reversed near magnetic field to release the access control mechanism to rotate, and simultaneously the permanent magnet arrangement attenuates () the reversed near magnetic field towards the far magnetic break-in field.

Electromechanical lock. Actuator () comprises drive head () rotatable by electric power (). Access control mechanism () comprises driven gear () with cogs, and grip mechanism (). Drive head () comprises two pins () configured and positioned so that one of pins () is in notch between two cogs () of driven gear (). For opening, drive head () rotates driven gear () to open position (), by two pins () driving cogs () and overcoming grip mechanism (), and thereby setting access control mechanism () to be rotatable () by user. If external mechanical break-in force () is applied, drive head () remains stationary by at least one of pins () contacting at least one of cogs (), and by grip mechanism () holding driven gear () stationary in locked position ().

Electromechanical lock

An electromechanical lock, and its operation method are disclosed. The method includes: generating electric power from mechanical power by an electric generator; reading data from an external source with the electric power; matching the data against a predetermined criterion with the electric power; powering the electric generator by the electric power; and setting the lock mechanically from a locked state to a mechanically openable state by the electric generator, provided that the data matches the predetermined criterion.
