Floor mats that can be removably secured to loop pile carpeting within a vehicle include a surface layer having an aesthetic appearance, a backing layer in face-to-face contacting relationship with the surface layer, and a layer of scrim material integrally disposed within the backing layer, wherein the layer of scrim material comprises a plurality of hooks extending outwardly therefrom and through the backing layer in one or more locations. The hooks are configured to engage loops in floor carpeting within a vehicle when the floor mat is placed on the carpeting. Moreover, the size and density of the hooks are configured such that damage to the carpeting when the floor mat is removed from the carpeting is reduced.

Vehicle floor mats having integral hook retention

A load bearing floor mat for vehicle cargo compartments includes a pliable layer configured to overlie a defined area of a vehicle floor and also includes a rigid member that is associated with a portion of the pliable layer. The rigid member has a width that is sufficient to span a gap or opening in the vehicle floor, such as a spare tire well or other storage compartment. The rigid member renders the pliable layer substantially non-pliable above the opening such that the floor mat can support a load placed thereon.

A multi-layer acoustically absorptive mat includes a base layer having an exposure hole defined therein. A face layer is disposed adjacent the base layer. An acoustic absorbing layer is interposed between the base layer and the face layer. The acoustic absorbing layer includes an exposed portion extending across the exposure hole wherein the base layer is bonded to the acoustic absorbing layer.
