An office electronic apparatus is associated to an apparatus card and is able to use or provide a service by means of identification information; the identification information allows billing of the use or provision of the service. A mobile telephone terminal is associated to a subscriber card storing subscriber identification information. According to the method of the present invention, at least the subscriber identification information and preferably also subscriber authentication information are transferred from the mobile telephone terminal to an office electronic apparatus when the said mobile telephone terminal is in proximity of the office electronic apparatus, the transferred information is stored into the apparatus card of the office electronic apparatus, and the service is autonomously used or provided by the office electronic apparatus by means of the transferred information.

Use, provision, customization and billing of services for mobile users through distinct electronic apparatuses

An arrangement for secure user authentication includes a computer or telecommunication terminal with a smartcard and a device. The smartcard is adapted to securely store biometric information relating to at least one user and the device is adapted to detect biometric data of users. The smartcard and the device include a radio interface for communicating together and a module for exchanging biometric information between each other. In this way, tampering of the transferred biometric information is difficult. In order to increase the security, one or more of the following measures may be used: a secure communication channel between the device and the smartcard, a direct (preferably short range) communication channel between the device and the smartcard and encryption and decryption of biometric information transferred between the device and the smartcard.

A digital memory such as a memory card for mobile communication equipment, is adapted to be accessed by a plurality of users and have protected data stored therein. The memory is dynamically partitionable in private memory areas for storing data therein and has associated therewith a secrecy tool for securely allocating to the users respective private areas and permitting the users to access the respective private areas via a secure session channel to perform read/write commands in the respective private areas. Typically, the memory/card includes: a card interface controller for managing a physical communication layer between the digital memory and external host equipment, an internal memory having associated therewith a hardware lock to control access to the internal memory, a set of cryptographic modules to manage the secure session channel between the users and the digital memory, and a memory certificate for certifying a public key associated with the digital memory.

The system allows a reliable and automatic detection of moving vehicles and advantageously also identification of the moving vehicles. A WPAN node device (advantageously a ZigBee node device) is installed on a vehicle to be detected when the vehicle is moving. Three WPAN node devices (advantageously three ZigBee node devices) are installed on the ground. One of the three WPAN node devices has a wide radio coverage area and acts as an 'exciter' of the vehicle WPAN node device. Another one of the three WPAN node devices has a wide radio coverage area and acts as the 'parent' of the vehicle WPAN node device. A further one of the three WPAN node devices has a narrow radio coverage area and acts as a &#x201c;detector&#x201d; of the vehicle WPAN node device. The three radio coverage areas are sized and located so that a moving vehicle to be detected enters the area of the &#x201c;exciter&#x201d; before entering the area of the &#x201c;parent&#x201d; and before entering the area of the &#x201c;detector&#x201d;. After detection, the system provides for sending information to a fourth WPAN node device present in a user mobile telephone terminal.

Users of mobile terminals in a communication network are provided controlled access to files in a file system through the steps of configuring the files as a file body containing a file content and a file header containing content profile information; providing a security identity module and a secure agent; storing in the security identity module user profile information identifying a set of content profiles allowed for access to the file system; extracting, via the secure agent, the content profile information from the headers of the files; retrieving, via the secure agent, the user profile information stored in the security identity module; checking the user profile information and the content profile information; and providing the user with access to those files in the file system for which the user profile information and the content profile information are found to match.

A method of secure management of data records stored in an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tag includes data fields whose contents are provided by different parties. Some of the data-fields contain public information data accessible to authorized end users. The data records are stored in encrypted form by encrypting data provided by different parties with different keys so as to set different access rights for contents providers and end users. The end users are supplied only with the keys allowing access to information data fields, whereas proprietary data are accessible only to the data owners. The keys are provided to the users in encrypted form.

The switching element allows building up of ATM exchanges capable of processing cell flows at bit rates higher than 700 Mbit/s. It uses an architecture with output queues, implemented through a unique shared memory, suitably controlled in order to obtain spatial cell switching towards the outputs. ATM cells are converted into a highly parallel format by a structure named rotation memory, where through the cells are then transferred into the master memory. The rotation memory is used also for the inverse operations of format restoration towards the output. The element control circuit is entrusted with the generation of writing and reading addresses of the master memory, in order to carry out the switching proper.
