A nuclear fuel pellet for a nuclear reactor is disclosed. The pellet comprises a metallic matrix and ceramic fuel particles of a fissile material dispersed in the metallic matrix. The metallic matrix is an alloy consisting of the principle elements U, Zr, Nb and Ti, and of possible rest elements. The concentration of each of the principle elements in the metallic matrix is at the most 50 molar-%.

Nuclear fuel pellet, a fuel rod, and a fuel assembly

A uranium oxide fuel pellet having an inner region and an outer rim region about the inner region, and that the fuel pellet is cylindrical and the inner region and outer rim region are coaxial cylindrical regions. The outer rim region has an excess of oxygen in comparison to the inner region, wherein high burnup structure (HBS) formation will be suppressed or delayed. Preferably, the excess oxygen is obtained by a chemical treatment by immersing the pellet in hydrogen peroxide (HO) or potassium permanganate (KMnO) in solution.

The invention relates to a method for making cemented carbide or cermet parts, comprises mixing a binder system with cemented carbide powder or cermet powder to form a feedstock, and injection molding or extruding the feedstock to form the cemented carbide or cermet parts, wherein the binder system comprises 30-60 wt % olefinic polymers, 40-70 wt % waxes, and 2.5-10 wt % petroleum jelly CAS 8009-03-8, the feedstock has a solids loading of &#x3c6;=0.54-0.56.

Method for making cemented carbide products

A method for the production of tungsten carbide based cemented carbide or cermet tools or components using the powder injection molding method includes mixing of hard constituent powder and a metallic binder powder with an organic binder system, consisting of 30-60 wt-% olefinic polymers and 40-70 wt-% nonpolar waxes, acting as a carrier for the powder. A metallic binder powder that is granulated with a nonpolar wax is used.

The present invention relates to a tool as well as a blank for manufacturing of the tool. The tool is made of solid cemented carbide and includes a shank for mounting in a rotatable spindle and chip flutes. Lines of intersection between the chip flutes and clearance surfaces form cutting edges at a cutting end of the tool. The flush channels extend through the entire tool in order to transfer flushing medium to the cutting end of the tool. The flush channels have varying pitch.

The present invention relates to a method of making a sintered body comprising one or more hard constituents in a binder phase by injection molding or extrusion. According to the invention, the granulating agent during drying is an ethylene oxide polymer and the binder system is not miscible with that compound. The extraction step is performed in an alcohol based solvent at a temperature of 50-78&#xb0; C., preferably 60-78&#xb0; C.

Method of manufacturing hard material components

A rotary tool such as a helix drill and an end mill for example, is manufactured by forming a blank by an extrusion process, and then sintering the blank. During the extrusion, a mixture is passed through a die which provides a cylindrical shape to the outer peripheral surface of the mixture. A plurality of jaws are disposed downstream of the die for conducting the mixture. Each jaw includes a helical ridge for engaging the outer surface of the extrudate to cause a helical groove to be formed therein which constitutes a chip flute in the tool. During the extrusion, the jaws are moved away from the mixture to terminate formation of the chip groove, whereby a shank portion of the tool is formed.

Method and a device for manufacturing a tool and a tool made by the method

A milling cutter includes a body having three cutting edges formed by the body. An end of the body situated opposite the cutting edges defines a fastening end of the milling cutter. Each cutting edge extends from an outer periphery of the body substantially to a center rotational axis of the body along a substantially convexly curved path. Radially outer and radially inner ends of each cutting edge are situated axially rearwardly of an axially foremost point of the cutting edge. Each cutting edge lies on a respective imaginary sphere having a radius which has a center which that is spaced from the cutting edge in a direction toward the fastening end and spaced radially from the center axis.

A rotary chip-removing tool includes a rotary tool body and a tool tip fastened on a front end thereof. The tool tip is formed of an injection molded body which has an integral cutting edge at its front end, and a coupling structure at its rear end. The coupling structure can be in the form of a threaded hole, or a rearward projection, for coupling the tool tip against the tool body. The tool tip is formed of first and second materials. The first material forms at least part of the cutting edge, and the second material forms the coupling structure. The first material is more brittle than the second material, and the second material is tougher than the first material.

A tool for chip-forming machining is made by passing first and second compounds through first and second coaxial dies, respectively, whereby the first material forms a center core of the tool, and the second material forms an outer rod of the material. The material of the core is tougher and less wear-resistant than the material of the outer rod. The coaxial first and second compounds are passed through a shaping die and then through a flute-forming structure which forms chip flutes in the outer rod.

Tool for chip removing machining and methods and apparatus for making the tool

A tool such as a drill or end mill has a central portion formed of a relatively tough hard material connected to an outer peripheral portion formed of relatively wear resistant hard material, i.e., the outer peripheral portion is more brittle and wear resistant than the central portion. The chip flutes of the tool are disposed only in the outer peripheral portion and thus are formed entirely of relatively wear resistant hard material.
