A fuel quality sensor can include a pump with a suction side and a pressure side for pumping fuel along a fuel flow path between an underground reservoir and a nozzle of a fuel dispensing unit; a first transmitter disposed at the suction side of the pump on a first side of a bypass plenum in fluid communication with the fuel flow path, the first transmitter configured to transmit a first light signal at a first predetermined frequency in the bypass plenum; a receiver disposed at the suction side of the pump on a second side of the bypass plenum and configured to receive the first light signal; and a control unit electrically connected to the first transmitter and the receiver and configured to determine at least one parameter of the fuel present in the fuel flow path based on the received first light signal at the first predetermined frequency.

In general, transparent fuel dispensers are provided, and in particular methods and devices are provided for increasing visibility on a fuel dispensing device. In one embodiment a fuel dispenser is provided having a display that is at least partially transparent at least during certain modes of operation. The display can display information on portions thereof during certain modes of operation as well.

Methods and devices are provided that allow for easy replacement of a motor assembly in a fuel dispensing unit. In one embodiment, a protective end cap for use with a motor assembly is provided and includes a junction box housing having a sealed end that can couple to a motor, and an opposite open end that can couple to an end plate. The junction box housing can be configured to house a junction box that allows electrical wires extending through the end plate to couple to electrical wires extending from the motor through the sealed end of the junction box housing. A motor assembly having a junction box housing and methods for replacing a motor assembly in a fuel dispenser are also provided.

A fuel dispensing unit includes a fuel conduit including an external annular bead and a locking member including inwardly extending resilient tongues. The locking member is configured to retain the fuel conduit in a locked position and to receive the fuel conduit in an open position. The external annular bead of the fuel conduit causes the locking member to move to the open position when the locking member receives the fuel conduit.

A kit of parts is provided that can include a plurality of hose connection parts selectable from, first hose connection parts comprising one fluid inlet and one fluid outlet, second hose connection parts comprising two fluid inlets and one fluid outlet, and third hose connection parts comprising three fluid inlets and one fluid outlet. The kit of parts can be suitable for assembling a hose connection having at least a first and second fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, according to any one of three configurations. The invention also relates to a fuel dispensing unit for refueling vehicles and a method for assembly a hose connection.

Embodiments of the invention are based on the idea of providing a device () for handling a hose () and a fuel dispensing unit () having such a device (). This is basically achieved by an elastic element () that is adapted to extend within a frame element () and to be guided by a guiding element (), and by a hose guiding means () which is movable away from said frame element () allowing said hose () to be pulled from an idle position to an operating position when said elastic element () is extended.

Methods and devices for handling a fuel dispenser hose

Kits of parts for assembling a hose connection, fuel dispensing units having such a hose connection, and methods for assembling such a hose connection are provided. In one embodiment, a kit of parts is provided that includes a plurality of hose connection parts selectable from, first hose connection parts including one fluid inlet and one fluid outlet, second hose connection parts including two fluid inlets and one fluid outlet, and third hose connection parts including three fluid inlets and one fluid outlet, which kit of parts is suitable for assembly of a hose connection having at least a first and second fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, according to any one of three configurations.

Embodiments of the invention are based on the idea of providing a device for handling a hose and a fuel dispensing unit having such a device. This is basically achieved by an elastic element that is adapted to extend within a frame element and to be guided by a guiding element, and by a hose guiding member which is movable away from said frame element allowing said hose to be pulled from an idle position to an operating position when said elastic element is extended.

Embodiments of seal device prevent migration of vapor into compartments that house electronics in a fuel dispensing unit. These embodiments deploy about conduits in a vapor barrier to seal gaps between the conduit and opening in plates of the vapor barrier and/or other components that separate the electronics from fuel-handing components. In one or more embodiments, the sealing device forms a radial seal about the conduit and a planar seal with the vapor barrier, where the sealing device is configured to maintain the planar seal and to allow relative movement of the conduit with respect to the vapor barrier in the opening. This relative movement can occur as a result of connection of the conduit to the fuel-handling components, e.g., a motor that can change position due to operation and/or natural settling of the support structure that supports the motor in the dispensing unit.
