A wireless device including multiple counterpoises or ground planes is provided. The wireless device may provide improved multiple input multiple output (MIMO) communication capability through the use of the multiple counterpoises. Multiple counterpoises of the wireless device may be galvanically isolated from one another. Multiple counterpoises may each be coupled to separate antenna elements.

Isolated ground for wireless device antenna

A wireless device includes an antenna structure having at least one parallel resonance element and a plurality of serial resonance components. The at least one parallel resonance element may be configured to radiate in at least one frequency. The plurality of serial resonance components may be configured to radiate in a plurality of frequencies. The antenna structure may further include a distributed feed element configured to couple to the parallel resonance element and the serial resonance components and serve as a radiofrequency signal feed. The wireless device may include two or more similar antenna structures.

Multi-input multi-output antenna

A multi-feed antenna assembly including a ground element lying in a plane, a first antenna element coupled to the ground element and having a projection on the plane, a first feed for feeding the first antenna element, a second antenna element coupled to the ground element and having a projection on the plane, the projection of the second antenna element being at least partially encompassed by the projection of the first antenna element and a second feed for feeding the second antenna element.

Multi-feed antenna assembly

A wireless device including at least one parallel resonance element and a plurality of serial resonance components is provided. The at least one parallel resonance element may be configured to radiate in at least one frequency. The plurality of serial resonance components may be configured to radiate in a plurality of frequencies. The device may further include a distributed feed element configured to couple to the parallel resonance element and the serial resonance components and serve as a radiofrequency signal feed.

Multiple coupled resonance circuits

A multiband antenna including a feed point, a helical radiating element galvanically connected to and fed by the feed point, the helical radiating element resonating in a Very High Frequency range and an elongate radiating element arranged coaxially within the helical radiating element and galvanically connected to and fed by the feed point, the elongate radiating element extending along only a portion of the helical radiating element, the elongate radiating element having a first resonant frequency and a second resonant frequency, the elongate radiating element operating as a quarter-wavelength monopole at the first resonant frequency and as an eighth-wavelength monopole at the second resonant frequency.

Multiband helical antenna

A antenna for a wireless device is provided. The antenna may include a dielectric substrate, a counterpoise disposed on the dielectric substrate, a first conductive element electrically connected to the counterpoise, and a second conductive element electrically connected to a feed point. The first conductive element may form at least a portion of a radiating loop resonant at a first frequency, and the second conductive element may form at least a portion of a radiating spur resonant at a second frequency higher than the first frequency. The antenna may further include a conductive frame constituting at least a portion of the radiating loop or the radiating spur.

Conductive loop antennas

A wireless device including a conductive chassis and a conductive coupling element is provided. The conductive coupling element may be connected to the conductive chassis and may cooperate with the conductive chassis to form a slit. An elongate feed element may be disposed within the slit. The coupling element may be configured to activate at least a portion of the conductive chassis to enable the chassis to operate as an antenna.

Multiple band chassis antenna

An antenna system including a signal source, at least one antenna coupled to the signal source, a matching circuit connected to the signal source at a first port and to the at least one antenna at a second port and operative to match the at least one antenna to the signal source, the matching circuit having a characteristic impedance with respect to the first port and the second port, real and imaginary parts of the characteristic impedance not being defined by the Hilbert transform.

Broadband matching circuits

A dual branch antenna is provided. The dual branch antenna may include a continuous conductive element divided into first and second branches. Each branch may be configured to form at least a portion of an antenna structure. Antenna structures thus formed may be configured to radiate in at least two different frequencies.

Dual branch common conductor antenna

An antenna, including a dielectric carrier having a bounding surface, and a conductive monopole resonant at a first frequency, the monopole having at least one conducting section mounted on the bounding surface. The antenna further includes a labyrinthine conductive coupling element mounted on the bounding surface so as to encompass the dielectric carrier. The coupling element is located with respect to the conductive monopole so as to transfer from the conductive monopole a second frequency lower than the first frequency.

Compact multiband antenna

An antenna, including a planar dielectric substrate and a conductive ground plane formed on the substrate. A conductive monopole is formed on the substrate and has an end point located in proximity to a feed region of the ground plane. A conductive coupling element is formed on the substrate and is coupled to the ground plane at a coupling region of the ground plane. The coupling element is folded around the monopole.

Compact antenna

There is provided a monopole antenna including a helical radiating element including a first longitudinal portion having a first winding pitch and a second longitudinal portion having a second winding pitch and a cylindrical radiating element generally coaxial with the helical radiating element and extending along at least most of the first longitudinal portion.

Broadband land mobile antenna

A top-loaded whip antenna particularly suitable for use in a compact mobile communication device having dual band resonance and including an elongate conductive whip antenna portion and a choke defined over a portion of the elongate conductive whip antenna portion, thereby providing top loading.

A multi-band sleeve dipole antenna including a generally axially disposed elongate inner conductor having first and second ends and arranged to be connected at the first end thereof to a modulated signal source, a generally axially disposed intermediate conductor disposed generally coaxially with respect to the inner conductor and arranged to be connected to ground, a generally axially disposed first outer sleeve conductor disposed generally coaxially with respect to the inner conductor and to the intermediate conductor and a generally axially disposed second outer sleeve conductor having a first and second ends disposed generally coaxially with respect to the inner conductor and to the intermediate conductor.

Multi-band sleeve dipole antenna

A retractable antenna module including a first, generally stationary plate and a second plate, movable relative to the first plate. The second plate moves between a retracted configuration of the module, in which the plates together function substantially as a feedthrough-fed antenna, and an extended configuration of the module, in which the second plate functions substantially as a monopole antenna.
