A user through a mobile or fixed terminal () informs an agent () hosted by an operator server () of subjects in respect of which content is requested. The agent () searches the internet for relevant content, and determines from a set of user preferences, relating to cost and timing of delivery preferences, a network for use in delivering the content to the terminal. Delivery may be made by a free network, e.g. a WLAN or Bluetooth network, if one is available, or over an expensive network such as a 3G, GSM or GPRS network if the content is requited quickly. If delivery is to be made over a broadcast network (), such as a DVB-T network (), a signal is sent to the terminal over a mobile telephone network () giving the time of broadcast, in response to which the terminal () enables its broadcast receiver at the appropriate time. Also, the agent () periodically reviews the content on a data carousel () which is awaiting broadcast, and informs the terminal () of any forthcoming content which is relevant to the user request.

Hybrid networks

At integrated hybrid telecommunication system for providing voice, packet data and digital broadcast/multicast services to a mobile terminal () is disclosed. In an embodiment of the invention, the system includes a mobile telecommunication network () for providing lower bandwidth services and a digital broadband network () for delivering higher bandwidth broadcast content. In an embodiment, a broadcast service such as a video broadcast can be viewed by selecting the service on e.g. a portal page displayed on the mobile terminal (). The request is received by the mobile telecommunication network (), which is coupled to the broadcast network () for retrieving the associated service parameters. The service parameters are transmitted to the mobile terminal () via the mobile telecommunication network (). The received parameters enable a broadcast receiver in the mobile terminal () to receive the broadcast service transmitted by the broadcast network ().

An apparatus and a method for providing user a wireless terminal operating within a wireless communication network an access to a resource storing content in a network of computing systems. A user message is transferred, the message including an identifier indicating the resource in the network of computing systems from the wireless terminal over the wireless communication network to a broadcast server having an access to the network.
