Image capturing system and a method for determining the position of an embossed structure on a sheet element

A surface inspection system for inspecting the surface of sheet elements present in an inspection area: The system includes two light sources arranged adjacent each other on opposite sides of an illumination plane, and a camera for capturing line images of the inspection area along a viewing plane. The illumination plane and the viewing plane are arranged on opposite sides of a median plane perpendicular to an inspection plane. The angle between the illumination plane and the median plane is the same as the angle between the viewing plane and the median plane. In a method of using the system, the first light source illuminates the sheet element before the second light sources does. An image evaluation unit compares the captured line images with each other.

Surface inspection system and method using multiple light sources and a camera offset therefrom

A surface inspection system () for inspecting the surface of sheet elements () present in an inspection area (). The system includes an image evaluation unit (), a camera (), a dark-field illuminator () and a bright-field illuminator (). The image evaluation unit () subtracts a line image captured under bright-field illumination conditions from a line image captured under dark-field illumination conditions. A method of identifying highly reflective surface areas on a sheet element () being moved through a sheet element processing machine, wherein first a line image (I) of the surface of the sheet element () in the viewing area () is captured under bright-field illumination conditions and a line image (I) of the same surface of the sheet element () in the viewing area () is captured under dark-field illumination conditions, and then the two line images (I, I) are compared, in particular subtracted from each other, wherein the surface is identified as being reflective if the difference (S) between the two line images (I, I) is above a predefined threshold.

A quality control station () for a sheet element processing machine, having at least one camera () arranged for capturing images of sheet elements () transported through the quality control station (), and further having an illumination unit () with at least one light emitter () and two reflectors (), the illumination unit () directing light onto a viewing area of the camera () such that the illumination intensity is constant despite changing media thickness. An optical receiver lens has a three-dimensional lens surface, for receiving the laser radiation of a laser distance measuring device, said laser radiation being reflected at an object, wherein the receiver lens can be described in a three-dimensional coordinate system having three axes x, y, z arranged at right angles with respect to one another and wherein the z-axis coincides with the optical axis of the receiver lens. At least one non-spherical area section of the lens surface can be described by addition of a first area, the flexure of which along the z-axis is a first function (f) of x and y, in particular of (I) and a second area, the flexure of which along the z-axis is a second function (f) of x and not of y. A distance measuring device is also described.

The invention relates to a device for optical distance measurement, particularly to a handheld device, comprising a transmission unit () with a light source () for emitting optical measurement radiation () onto a target object (), and comprising a receiving unit () arranged at a distance from the optical axis () of the transmission unit () and equipped with at least one optical detector () for receiving optical radiation () reflected from the target object (). According to the invention, the detector () of the receiving unit () comprises a detection surface (), the optical surface of which has varying optical sensitivity.

Device for optical distance measurement

A sensor arrangement includes at least one transparent elevation, which is formed on the surface. The transparent elevation is made of a first transparent material. At least one first facet of the transparent elevation defines a first angle with the surface. This first angle is larger than an angle at which a total-reflection occurs at an interface of the first transparent material and air and is at the same time smaller than an angle at which a total reflection occurs at an interface of the first transparent material and the liquid. A light source is arranged for emitting an incident ray into a first direction passing through the surface into the transparent elevation such that in a presence of a liquid at the first facet, an incident ray is transmitted through the first facet. In an absence of a liquid, the incident ray is reflected due to a total reflection at the facets. A light detector is provided for detecting the reflected ray.

Sensor arrangement for detecting a liquid on a surface of an intrusion detector

The obstruction detection device for an infrared intruder detection system comprises at least one transparent facet having a roughened surface; a light emitter arranged for emitting light towards the roughened surface; a light detector arranged for detecting the intensity of light, which is transmitted or reflected or diffracted by the roughened surface into a specific direction of space; and an output device for outputting an alarm-signal, when an absolute difference between the intensity of the detected light and a reference value exceeds a threshold value. A liquid or spray applied onto the roughened surface changes its scattering patterns. This change triggers the alarm-signal.

Obstruction detection device

The invention relates to an infrared intrusion detection device. It comprises a housing, a window, which is arranged at a front side of the housing and which is transparent for at least infrared radiation emitted by an intruder, an infrared sensor arranged inside the housing for detecting the infrared radiation emitted by the intruder. Further it comprises a light guide, which is arranged inside the housing, which has at least one light entrance facet and which has a plurality of light exit facetsbeing arranged at the front side of the housing. A light emitteris arranged inside the housing for injecting light into the at least one light entrance facet of the light guide. A light detector is provided for detecting light reflected back into the housing by an obstacle in the vicinity of the window. A signal processing unit is arranged for triggering an alarm, when an absolute difference of the intensity of back-reflected light to a predetermined value exceeds a threshold value.
