A device for mixing anesthetic vapor with anesthetic gas has a pressure limitation feature achieved in a simple manner. The device has a valve device (), with which the evaporator is switched on and off. The valve device () is equipped with an overpressure release device ().

A pressure-resistant tank for liquids includes a plurality of differently shaped diecast parts () made of a first aluminum alloy (cast alloy). The diecast parts () are connected by means of a closed weld seam welded with an electron beam with the use of a second aluminum alloy (wrought alloy). The second aluminum alloy has especially a hydrogen content of less than 0.2 mL per 100 g of wrought alloy. The tank for liquids is especially an anesthetic tank and the anesthetic is desflurane.

A filling device for an anesthetic evaporator has filling of an anesthetic evaporator is possible. To accomplish the object, an additional vent hole (), which is opened immediately after the filling in order for excess anesthetic volume to be able to flow out of the filling device into the anesthetic tank () of the anesthetic evaporator (), is provided within the filling device above a fluid channel (), via which both the gas and liquid exchange takes place during the filling.

An anesthetic tank () of an anesthetic dispensing unit is used especially for desflurane and has improved reliability of operation by mutually complementing level monitoring devices. The anesthetic tank () is equipped with a level tube () arranged in or on the outer wall with a connection line () into the interior space as well as with an optical level sensor (). The optical axis () of the level sensor () is located at the same level as a mark () on the level tube ().

A device for metering anesthetic is provided such that a new anesthetic is immediately available for the metering when the anesthetic is changed. The metering device has an assembly unit that can be removed from the medical apparatus as a module with a reservoir () for a liquid anesthetic, an intermediate container () arranged downstream of the reservoir (), a metering gas source () connected to the intermediate container () and a metering element () for anesthetic on the discharge side of the intermediate container (). An evaporator chamber () may be provided for evaporating the metered anesthetic. A connecting device lets through at least anesthetic vapor as an interface between the assembly unit () and the medical apparatus ().

A pressure relief valve for flowing media has a closing element (), whose closing force can be set with both the setting of the closing force and the brief release of the closing element () performed with a single setting element. Teeth () are provided, by which the threaded sleeve () can be actuated such that it can perform a rotary movement and a lifting movement can be performed between the handwheel () and the threaded sleeve (). The teeth are provided between a pin () of the handwheel () for setting the closing force and a threaded sleeve (). The closing element () is connected to the handwheel () such that the closing element () follows the lifting movement of the handwheel ().

Pressure relief valve for flowing media

An improved respirator with a breathing circuit ( ) and a corresponding process for operating the respirator are provided. Defined breathing gas volumes can be delivered to the patient and the current operating state can be reliably monitored despite a strong breathing gas volume flow being delivered in the breathing circuit ( ). A gas delivery element ( ) designed as a rotary compressor is connected on the inlet side to a reversible breathing gas reservoir ( ) and on the outlet side to a patient connection piece ( ) for inspiration via a first gas volume flow sensor ( ) with a first nonreturn valve ( ). A second gas volume flow sensor ( ) is located in the connection line between the patient connection piece ( ) and the patient being inspirated. The patient connection piece ( ) is connected for expiration to a second nonreturn valve ( ) via a third gas volume flow sensor ( ) and to the reversible breathing gas reservoir ( ) via a controllable shut-off valve ( ). At least one measuring and control device ( ) is connected to the gas volume flow sensors ( ), it receives their measured signals and sends control signals to the gas delivery element ( ) and to the controllable shut-off valve ( ).
