A computer-implemented method performed by an audio system including a processor and a plurality of loudspeakers, comprises receiving an audio signal to be output to a listener, obtaining a first Head Related Transfer Function (HRTF) corresponding to a first predefined listening pose of the listener, obtaining a second HRTF corresponding to a second predefined listening pose of the listener, determining, for each of the plurality of loudspeakers a respective loudspeaker signal using the audio signal, the first HRTF, and the second HRTF, and simultaneously outputting, via the plurality of loudspeakers using the loudspeaker signals, a first sound signal for the first predefined listening pose corresponding to the first HRTF and limited to a first predefined spatial zone, and a second sound signal for the second predefined listening pose corresponding to the second HRTF and limited to a second predefined spatial zone different from the first predefined spatial zone.

Spatial sound improvement for seat audio using spatial sound zones

A system and method for generating a virtual soundstage in a listening environment having a compact speaker array centrally positioned in a listening environment. A listener is sitting offset from the speaker array and the virtual soundstage is generated in front of a listener. A signal processing unit is configured to receive an incoming audio signal, to process left and right channel signals of the incoming audio signal to generate a null, and to steer the null toward one ear of a listener thereby generating a virtual sound source that is offset from the center of the listening environment. Virtual sound sources are generated in front of, to the left of, and to the right of the listener.

Virtual soundstage with compact speaker array and interaural crosstalk cancellation

A head restraint assembly is provided having a head restraint with a forward contact surface. At least one loudspeaker driver is embedded in the head restraint and offset rearward from the forward contact surface. A waveguide extends from the loudspeaker driver toward the forward contact surface and is configured to direct a sound output from the loudspeaker driver at a listening direction being different than a central axis of radiation of the loudspeaker driver.

A speaker system is provided with a docking station, a removable housing mounted to the docking station, and a transducer supported by the removable housing. The speaker system is also provided with a processor supported by the removable housing and programmed to separate an audio signal into channels and provide at least one channel to the transducer based a location of the removable housing relative to the docking station.

A speaker system is provided with a docking station and a removable housing that is mounted to the docking station. The speaker system also includes a receiver, a transducer and a processor that are supported by the removable housing. The receiver receives an audio signal from a mobile media device. The processor communicates with the receiver and is programmed to determine a location of the removable housing relative to the docking station, separate the audio signal into channels and provide at least one channel to the transducer based on the location.
