A gas generator comprises a compartment confined by a casing configured to hold an active material generating a target gas in response to thermal activation, and a heater structure configured and arranged to heat the active material for generating the target gas. The heater structure is arranged outside the compartment and heats the active material from at least two sides.

Gas generator

The present invention relates to a sensor () for sensing organic carbon in a liquid (L), comprising: a container () having an interior space () for receiving the liquid (L), a photodetector (), and a light source () configured to emit ultraviolet light () so that the ultraviolet light () travels along an optical path (P) through liquid (L) residing in the interior space () and is absorbable by carbon bonds of organic molecules in the liquid (L). According to the present invention, the photodetector () is configured to detect light in the visible or infrared spectrum, and the sensor () comprises a down conversion material portion () arranged in the optical path, wherein the down conversion material portion () is configured to receive incoming ultraviolet light () emitted by the light source () and to down convert received ultraviolet light () and to emit said down converted light () in the visible or infrared spectrum so that emitted down converted light () impinges on the photodetector ().

Total organic carbon sensor utilizing down conversion

A flexible planar patch suitable for application to a patient's skin is provided. The planar patch comprises a capture layer () and a cover layer (). The capture layer () comprises an analyte capture zone () and a fastener zone (). The analyte capture zone () consists of a first water permeable material comprising a ligand capable of binding specifically to an analyte. The fastener zone () is impermeable to water and/or delimited from said analyte capture zone by a water impermeable barrier zone () and comprises an adhesive () capable of fastening the capture layer () removably to a surface. The cover layer comprises an adhesive () capable of fastening the cover layer () removably to the capture layer (). In addition, a kit for assembly of the patch and a diagnostic method using the patch are provided.

Surface analysis patch

An infrared device comprises a substrate (), and arranged on or in the substrate () a configuration () for one of selectively emitting and selectively absorbing infrared radiation of a band, the configuration () comprising a pattern made from an electrically conducting material on a first level (L), an electrically conducting film () on a second level (L), and a dielectric layer () between the pattern and the film (). One or more of a heater () for heating the configuration (), and a thermal sensor () arranged for sensing the selective infrared radiation of the band absorbed by the configuration () on or in the substrate.

Infrared device

In a method for manufacturing a sensor chip a spacer () is arranged at the front side () of a substrate () at which front side () a sensing element () is arranged, too. Holes () are etched for building vias () extending through the substrate () between the front side () of the substrate () and its back side (). After etching, the holes () are filled with conductive material to complete the vias (). The spacer () provides protection to the sensing element () and the sensing chip throughout the manufacturing process.

Sensor protection

The present sensing device comprises a sensor (, ) for providing sensor data representative of a quantity to be measured. Together with the sensor (, ) a radio frequency interface (, ) for transmitting the sensor data is arranged in a casing (, ). The casing (, ) comprises an opening (, ) for exposing a sensitive element (, ) of the sensor (, ) to an environment of the casing (, ). A seal (, ) is provided for sealing the opening (, ) against an interior (, ) of the casing (, ). The sensing device can be used as autonomous humidity detector for detecting humidity e.g. in cars under test.

Sensing device

A differential pressure sensor comprises a membrane arranged over a cavity on a semiconductor substrate. A lid layer is arranged at the top side of the device and comprises an access opening for providing access to the top side of the membrane. A channel extends laterally from the cavity and intersects with a bore. The bore is formed by laser drilling from the bottom side of the substrate and provides access to the bottom side of the membrane. The bore extends all through the substrate and optionally into the lid layer.

Method for manufacturing an intergrated pressure sensor

A pressure sensor is manufactured by joining two wafers, the first wafer comprising CMOS circuitry and the second being an SOI wafer. A recess is formed in the top material layer of the first wafer, which is covered by the silicon layer of the second wafer to form a cavity. Part or all of the substrate of the second wafer is removed to forming a membrane from the silicon layer. Alternatively, the cavity can be formed in the second wafer. The second wafer is electrically connected to the circuitry on the first wafer. This design allows to use standard CMOS processes for integrating circuitry on the first wafer.
