A piston for a pretensioner device () for a motor vehicle seat belt system of a type having a gas generator () with the piston () guided in a tube () that closes a pressure space () in the tube (). The pressure space () can be pressurized by the gas generator (), driving the piston () to undergo pretensioning operation transmitted to the seat belt system by a force transmission means. The piston has a dome shaped front side adapted to engage a force transmission element and a skirt forming a sealing lip oriented toward the pressure space. At least one slot is formed in the outer surface of the piston extending axially from the sealing lip. The slot can be enlarged by the material erosion caused by the pressure and/or pressure conditions in the pressure space produced by gas from the gas generator.

Pretensioner device for a seat belt

A tensioning device () for a seat belt, in particular in a motor vehicle, having a gas generator () and a piston () guided in a tube () that closes a pressure space () in the tube (), whereas the pressure space () can be pressurized by the gas generator (), as a result of which the piston () can be driven to perform a tensioning operation which can be transmitted to the seat belt by means of the force transmission means. The piston () having a closed or constricted opening (), and the opening () can be enlarged and/or opened by the material erosion caused by the pressure and/or pressure conditions in the pressure space ().

Tensioning device for a safety belt

A pretensioning device () for a safety belt, of a motor vehicle, having a gas generator (), a piston () guided in a tube (), which closes a pressure area () in the tube () that is pressurized by the gas generator () whereupon the piston () is able to move in a pretensioning movement which is able to be conveyed to the safety belt by means of an inertia body () resting on a front face () of the piston (). The piston () forms a pass-through opening () releasable upon exceeding of a predetermined pressure and a recess () is provided in the front face () with an inertia body () resting thereon, so that a flow connection is created from the pass-through opening () to the area () located behind the piston () in the direction of the pretensioning movement (S).

Pretensioning device for a safety belt

A pyrotechnical drive device for a safety tensioning device has a guide tube and a drive element movably mounted within the guide tube. A receiving member is connected to the guide tube. A gas generator for producing a gas when activated is provided. The gas drives the drive element within the guide tube. The gas generator includes a sleeve and is mounted with the sleeve within the receiving member. The receiving member has a wall with an opening and the opening has a size adapted to the wall thickness material of the sleeves such that, when a pressure load limit of the gas generated within the sleeve is surpassed upon activation of the gas generator, the sleeve is pressed into the opening and bursts open.

Pyrotechnical drive device with pressure relief

A rotational tensioning device for a safety belt of a motor vehicle has a reeling device with reeling shaft and a drive wheel connected to the reeling shaft. The drive wheel has a circumference with semi-spherical recesses. A channel, having a first and a second end, is positioned in a plane parallel to the drive wheel. It extends at least over a portion of the circumference of the drive wheel. Spherical mass bodies are contained in the channel. A gas generator is connected to the first end of the channel, wherein, upon activation of the gas generator, a gas is released into the channel for accelerating the spherical mass bodies in the channel and driving the spherical mass bodies through the channel into the semi-spherical recesses to thereby drive the drive wheel and the reeling shaft in a direction of winding of the safety belt. A drive piston, for driving the spherical mass bodies, consists of two of the spherical mass bodies fixedly connected to one another to form a twin ball. The drive piston is positioned within the first end of the channel.
