Aluminum oxide powder in the form of aggregates of primary-particles, which has a BET surface area of from 10 to 90 m2/g and comprises as crystalline phases, in addition to gamma-aluminum oxide and/or theta-aluminum oxide, at least 30% of delta-aluminum oxide. It is prepared by vaporizing aluminum chloride and burning the vapor together with hydrogen and air, the ratio of primary air/secondary air being 0.01 to 2, the exit speed vof the reaction mixture from the burner being at least 10 m/s, the lambda value being 1 to 4, the gamma value being 1 to 3 and the value of gamma*v/lambda being greater than or equal to 55. The invention relates to a process for preparing fine-particle free-flowing rubber powders, composed of carbon black fillers and a rubber, prepared by solution polymerization. The process operates on the basis of a two-phase system involving transfer of the organic rubber phase in a non-aggressive manner into the inorganic filler suspension, without addition of chemicals. A rubber/carbon black composite is formed. The process comprises measures to avoid clumping of product in the aqueous phase. After mechanical water removal and thermal drying, the product obtained flows freely and is a storage-stable powder or pellet and are markedly superior to the standard both in their processing and in their rubber-technology property profile.

A fine-particle, free-flowing rubber powder containing silicatic fillers, one or more organosilanes having trialkoxysilyl groups, and a rubber prepared by solution polymerization is prepared by a process that starts from a two-phase system: 1) filler in water, and 2) rubber in organic solvent. A rubber/silicatic filler/silane composite is formed during transfer, under gentle conditions, of the various reactants into a single phase. The process features a high degree of freedom in selecting forms of filler and in selecting the organosilane and gives a finished rubber powder in which a silicatic filler and an organosilane have undergone complete chemical reaction.
