A method operates a display system having a pair of data glasses in a motor vehicle. The method transmits brightness information, especially supplied by a driver assistance system, to the data glasses, and adapts, depending on the transmitted brightness information, an aperture opening and/or an exposure time of a data glasses camera which is used to recognize a position and orientation of the data glasses.

Method and device for operating a display system comprising a head-mounted display

A method for determining a viewing direction of a person, such as a driver in a motor vehicle, is provided. The method includes detecting a surface contour of a surface of an eye of the person, ascertaining a normal vector on the surface of the eye depending on the detected surface contour, and determining the viewing direction of the person depending on the normal vector.

Method for determining a viewing direction of a person

A method for segmenting a first scene from a sequence of scenes is described. In this case, the sequence of scenes was captured by a camera in or on a vehicle such as by smartglasses. The method determines an optical flow of the first scene, on the basis of the sequence of scenes. In addition, the method determines statistical variables of the optical flow in different partial regions of the first scene. Furthermore, the method determines, on the basis of the statistical variables, a separating line between a foreground region and a background region of the first scene. In this case, determining the separating line includes determining, on the basis of the statistical variables, an indicator of whether the optical flow in the background region is attributable to a movement of the vehicle.

Foreground-background differentiation in a vehicle

Data eyeglasses include a first display, a camera, and an analyzing unit. The data eyeglasses is configured to: record the surroundings of the data eyeglasses via the camera, detect an image displayed by a second display in the recordings of the camera; detect that the displayed image has a marker for determining the pose of the data eyeglasses; detect the marker; and determine the pose of the data eyeglasses by use of the detected marker.

Determining the pose of a head mounted display

A head mounted display is configured to determine the posture of the head mounted display relative to a vehicle. The head mounted display includes a display, a camera and an electronic computing unit; and is set up to: create recordings of the environment of the head mounted display with the aid of the camera; receive details relating to the position and/or orientation of a movable object in the interior of the vehicle; detect the image of the object in the recordings from the camera; and determine the posture of the head mounted display taking into account the image of the object in the recordings relative to the vehicle. The posture of the head mounted display indicates the position of the pair of data glasses and the alignment of the pair of data glasses.
