A method detects a driving state of a vehicle. The vehicle has a drive train with at least one drive and an accelerator pedal. A rest state of the accelerator pedal is determined by evaluating an operating point position of the accelerator pedal by a first accelerator pedal gradient in a first time interval, and checking whether the first accelerator pedal gradient within the first time interval is less than a maximum value.

Method for detecting a driving state of a vehicle

In a motor vehicle, the shifting characteristics for kick-down shifting for gear selection in the sense of a kick-down simulation are activated by at least one selection device by which the gears of the transmission can be manually shifted up and down in a manual mode, and by an electronic control unit that predetermines a gear selection for controlling the setting elements of the transmission as a function of the signals of the selection devices, of shifting characteristics, and of further input signals. For kick-down shifting, the further input signals are the activation of the selection device into the down-shift position that requests manual down-shifting and the holding of the selection device in this down-shift position for a predetermined period of time.

Method and apparatus for controlling an automatic transmission

In an arrangement for controlling an automatically shifting transmission, as a result of a corresponding programming of an electric control device, when actuating a second selecting device, starting from the automatic mode, first an immediate upshifting or downshifting can be prompted and is permitted unless prevented by a specified condition. In the case of a brief actuation, a first or further immediate upshifting and/or downshifting can be prompted and the current or thereby reached gear will be maintained until, first, the duration of the actuation has reached the specific minimum duration and, second, the actuation of the selecting device was terminated. When the second selecting device has a first operating element for the manual triggering of an upshift command and a second operating element for the manual triggering of a downshift command, the event controlling the return to the automatic mode may be the recognition of the simultaneously present commands downshifting and upshifting. After a first actuation of the second selecting device for the purpose of a manually prompted immediate up- or downshifting, a transition may immediately take place to the automatic gear change control according to the automatic mode, if subsequently thereto, an actuation of the second selecting device for the purpose of a gear change in a direction opposite thereto takes place within a comparatively brief time window.

Arrangement and method for controlling an automatically shifting transmission

For controlling an automatic transmission having an electronic control unit and having a power control element, the control unit detects a desired-power signal corresponding to the position of the power control element and, basically as a function of this desired-power signal, causes a change of gear corresponding to the characteristic shifting curves stored in the control unit. The control unit also generates a gradient signal corresponding to the rate of change of the desired-power signal and can&#x2014;when certain conditions exist&#x2014;cause a backshift deviating from the characteristic shifting curves as a function of this gradient signal. By way of the control unit, an immediate multiple backshift is initiated as a function of the gradient signal when, as a characteristic shifting curve for a first backshift has been reached, the gradient signal has exceeded at least a first lower limit value.
