A method fits a digital hearing aid having an input transducer, a signal processing device and an output transducer. The signal processing device is configured to form an evaluation unit, a comparator unit, and a pre-amplification unit. An acoustic test signal is generated by an external testing device while the hearing aid is worn by a hearing-aid wearer. A digital test input signal is generated by the input transducer on the basis of the acoustic test signal. A sound pressure-dependent test quantity is determined on the basis of the digital test input signal by the evaluation unit. A deviation between the sound pressure-dependent test quantity and a reference quantity stored in the signal processing device is determined by the comparator unit. A pre-amplification by the pre-amplification unit is adjusted on the basis of the determined deviation.

Method for fitting a digital hearing aid, hearing aid and computer program product

A method operates a hearing instrument having an acousto-electric first input transducer and an electro-acoustic output transducer. A first input signal is generated by the first input transducer from an ambient sound. The first input signal and/or a first intermediate signal derived from the first input signal is resolved into a multiplicity of frequency bands. An output signal is generated from the first input signal, or from the first intermediate signal, by frequency-selective signal processing. A relevant subset of frequency bands is determined from the aforementioned multiplicity such that, in each frequency band of the relevant subset, an output sound generated from the output signal by the output transducer makes a contribution that lies above a predefined or desired threshold, further, with the aid of signal components of the first input signal, or of the first intermediate signal.

Method for operating a hearing instrument and hearing instrument

A method for localizing a sound source for a binaural hearing system with first and second hearing instruments. First and second input signals are formed from an ambient sound signal and directional signals are formed by directional signal processing of the input signals. The directional signals have a minimum sensitivity in different minimum directions with respect to a preferred direction of the binaural hearing system. Based on the directional signals, first and second source directions of the sound source are determined starting from the first and second hearing instrument, respectively. Based on the source directions and a distance between the first and second hearing instruments, the distance of said sound source from a reference point of the binaural hearing system and a main direction of the said sound source are determined to thereby localize the sound source.

Method for localizing a sound source for a binaural hearing system

A hearing aid device has a directional microphone system with a first microphone outputting a first microphone signal and a second microphone outputting a second microphone signal. A delay unit generates a directivity by delaying the second microphone signal or a fourth microphone signal derived therefrom by an internal time delay and associating it with the first microphone signal or a third microphone signal derived therefrom for generating a directional microphone signal. A cross-correlation analysis unit receives the first or the third microphone signal and the second or the fourth microphone signal and determines a value of a cross correlation of the two microphone signals. A control unit adjusting the time delay depending on the value of the cross correlation of the two microphone signals. A classifier determines audio conditions in which the hearing aid device is currently situated, and the time delay is adjusted depending on the audio conditions.

Hearing aid device with a directional microphone system and method for operating a hearing aid device having a directional microphone system

The adjustment of a hearing device is to be improved and configured in a more user-friendly fashion. To this end, a method is proposed whereby the hearing device is set individually to the user and is inserted at least partially into the auditory canal of the user. Finally an in-situ measurement of the acoustic impedance of the auditory system of the user including at least part of the auditory canal of the user is implemented with a tympanometric method. An automatic correction of the individual setting of the hearing device can take place on the basis of the results of the in-situ measurement.
