A valve actuation device for actuating a first and second gas exchange valve of an internal combustion engine. A tilting lever is pivotable between a first starting position and a first actuation position and a valve bridge is movable between a second starting position and a second actuation position. A coupling device is switchable between a locking state, in which the valve bridge is movable out of the second starting position into the second actuation position via the coupling device by the tilting lever, and an unlocking state, in which, despite a movement of the tilting lever out of the first starting position into the first actuation position, there is no movement of the valve bridge out of the second starting position into the second actuation position. The coupling device is held on the tilting lever such that the coupling device is pivotable with the tilting lever.

A valve train includes a camshaft which has a cam group having a firing cam and a braking cam. A first cam follower is assigned to the firing cam with the first cam follower being provided in a firing mode for actuating a gas exchange valve. A second cam follower is assigned to the braking cam which is provided in a braking mode for actuating the gas exchange valve. A changeover device is provided to changeover between the firing mode and the braking mode. The camshaft has a separate switching cam which, in at least one operating mode, is provided to act directly on a switching element of the changeover device and which is provided for a direct changeover between the firing mode and the braking mode.

A valve gear has a cam shaft with a firing cam and a braking cam. A first cam follower is allocated to the firing cam with the first cam follower being provided in a firing operation for actuating a gas exchange valve. A changeover device switches between the operations and has a tilting lever mount having a pivotably mounted mounting element on which a tilting lever belonging to the first cam follower and a tilting lever belonging to the second cam follower are pivotably mounted. The tilting lever mount has two mounting screws respectively having a ball head and the ball heads each form a ball joint together with a ball head receiver of the allocated tilting lever.

The valve drive device has an axially displaceable cam element and an adjusting device with a first engagement element which displaces the cam element axially into a first switching position and a second engagement element which displaces the cam element axially into a second switching position. The adjusting device has a first slotted guide track in which the first engagement element is guided in the first switching position and a second slotted guide track in which the second engagement element is guided in the second switching position. The first engagement element is positively coupled to the second engagement element. The adjusting device includes a triggering device which holds the first engagement element fixedly in the second switching position counter to a restoring force. A method for axial displacement of a rotating cam element is also disclosed.

The adjusting device includes a pivoted rocker lever, at one end of which an actuation element is positioned configured to transfer a force to the charge-cycle valve. An engine compression brake device is disclosed. The brake device has at least one camshaft which has at least one cam group with at least one firing cam and at least one brake cam, and has at least one cam follower which is functionally assigned to the firing cam and which is provided for actuating at least one gas exchange valve in a firing mode, and has a cam follower which is functionally assigned to the brake cam and which is provided for actuating at least one gas exchange valve in a braking mode. The brake device further has a switchover device which is provided for the switchover between the firing mode and the braking mode, where the switchover device is provided for converting a torque of the camshaft into a force for the switchover between the firing mode and the braking mode.
