A device for measuring a wear condition on the plain bearing surface of a sensor plate comprises a measuring apparatus, which has wear sensors of a sensor plate integrated into the plain bearing surface. To capture the material removal at the plain bearing surface due to wear an evaluation apparatus is in signal connection with the wear sensors. The evaluation apparatus is designed, with respect to programming, in such a way that a change, in particular an increase, in the ohmic resistance value of the electrical conductor of a certain wear sensor can be captured in dependence on its own material removal, in order to thereby ensure that the amount of the material removal at the plain bearing surface and/or the remaining thickness of the plain bearing surface at the location of said certain wear sensor can be inferred from the detected change in the resistance value.

A seal () for sealing a lubricant space prevents lubricant () escaping. A rolling stand has a seal of this kind. The seal () is made at least partially from elastic material. To enable a pressing force FR, with which the bottom face () of the seal is pressed against an opposite contact surface (), for example of a roll journal (), to be variably set, the seal () has at least two cavities, which are separated from each other in the circumferential direction and which are open towards the lubricant space of the bearing.

The invention relates to a device and a method for cooling a roll. The roll concerned can be a roller in a roll stand or a measuring roll. The device comprises a cooling shell having a cross section in the shape of a section of a circular arc, for covering a surface region of the roll (), wherein, in the region of an edge of the cooling shell, a bearing is formed with a pivot joint () with an axis of rotation running perpendicular to the circular arc-shaped cross-section, for pivoting the cooling shell about the axis of rotation. According to the invention, in order to ensure that the size of the cooling gap during the rolling operation or during the operation of a measuring roll is always autonomously optimally set, the bearing has a degree of freedom in radial direction r with respect to the circular arc-shaped cross-section of the cooling shell, such that the cooling shell is mounted in the bearing in such a way as to be freely movable in the radial direction.

The invention concerns a hot-rolling mill comprising a finishing train () for finishing rolling stock, in particular a strip, the finishing train () comprising a number of rolling stands () which follow one another in a conveying direction (F) of the rolling stock. Furthermore, the device according to the invention comprises a variable-length linear guide () which can be pivoted about a further suspension point () and is connected rotatably to the second half () of the cooling shell () as viewed in the circumferential direction (U) of the roll ().

A support roller, particularly for rolling mill systems or equipment for casting, conveying or straightening metal products, including a cylindrical roller axle, a hollow cylindrical outer ring arranged concentrically in relation to the roller axle, and a plurality of rolling bodies arranged between the roller axle and the outer ring. The roller axle further including a cavity, at least in certain sections between its central axis and a load introduction point. Due to the provision of the cavity the load rating and the service life of the support roller are increased.

The invention is directed to a device for straightening a stream of a cooling medium for cooling a roll or a metal strip. This device comprise a hollow body, extending over at least part of the width of the roll or the metal strip, and a tube, arranged in the hollow body and extending in the direction of the width of the roll or the metal strip, wherein the hollow body is divided in the direction of the width of the roll or the metal strip into a number of chambers, and the tube comprises openings for introducing cooling medium into the chambers of the hollow body, and the chambers respectively comprise an opening for the flowing out of cooling medium from the hollow body. Furthermore, according to the invention the chambers, respectively, comprise a channel, formed between the inner wall of the hollow body and the tube, for conducting cooling medium from the openings of the tube to the opening for the outflow of cooling medium from the hollow body, wherein the flow cross-section of the channel narrows art least at its downstream end.

Device for straightening a flow for cooling a roll or a metal strip

The invention relates to a method for cooling a roll (), in particular a working roll () of a hot-rolling system, comprising the steps of feeding coolant () by means of a nozzle () into a gap () between at least a portion of the roll surface and a cooling shell () that can be placed against the portion of the roll surface, and adjusting the gap height (h) between the cooling shell () and the roll surface. The invention concerns a method and a coiler mandrel for coiling metal strip (), wherein the coiler mandrel () comprises a mandrel body (), a plurality of radially expandable segments () arranged around the mandrel body (), and a plurality of hydraulic cylinders () by which the segments () can be moved in the radial direction.
