A functional polymeric cutting edge structure and methods for the manufacturing of cutting edge structures comprised of polymeric materials are provided. The cutting edge structures may be produced on a substrate having a blade body or blade support type. The polymeric material is produced by curing a precursor material by electromagnetic radiation wherein a wavelength of said radiation is about double a wavelength required to cure the precursor material. A razor blade for use in a razor cartridge or a blade box may be formed using the present invention.

A razor having a handle with a power source. A cartridge has a skin contacting surface mounted to the handle. A metallic heat dissipating strip has an upper skin contact surface adjacent to the skin contacting surface of the cartridge. A heating element is positioned below the heat dissipating strip. The heating element has a resistive member with a pair of electrical contacts and a resistance of about 0.5 Ohms to about 20 Ohms. A ceramic insulating member is positioned between the metal heat dissipating strip and the resistive member. An electrical circuit is in electrical communication with the power source and is configured to deliver energy to the resistive member to heat the resistive member of the heating element. The resistive member of the heating element delivers heat to the heat dissipating strip.

The method includes the steps of: providing a blade having an edge; providing a fiber mount for holding the single fiber; providing at least one sensor connected to the fiber mount; providing a fiber sleeve to contain a fiber within the fiber mount to simulate the location of the hair within the hair follicle; moving the blade toward the fiber and cutting the fiber; and measuring the cutting force on the fiber with the at least one sensor.

A safety razor has a handle and a cartridge selectively detachable from the handle. The cartridge has at least one blade with a sharp cutting edge and an expected shaving utility. A connecting structure is coupled to the handle and attaches or detaches the cartridge from the handle in response to a detachment action performed by a user. A detector within the handle has an actuator coupled to the connecting structure and a sensor for generating a signal, wherein the actuator applies an action on the sensor during the action and the sensor generates the signal in response to the action.

A wet shaving razor comprising a handle having a proximate and distal end, a razor cartridge mounted at the proximate end of the handle.
