A seat, in particular motor vehicle seat, with a seat part and a backrest pivotally mounted relative to the seat part, which includes a backrest frame with two mutually opposite side bars, is provided. The two side bars are connected with each other via a transverse shaft which is rotatably mounted on the seat part in the region of a side bar. At least one fitting arrangement with a fitting part fixed at the backrest frame is provided, in order to arrest the pivotally mounted backrest relative to the seat part. The fitting part fixed at the backrest frame is welded to one of the side bars and the transverse shaft is welded to this fitting part. An end of the transverse shaft extends through one of the two side bars and this end is rotatably mounted in a seat side part of the seat part, so that the transverse shaft defines a pivot axis about which the backrest is pivotable relative to the seat part.

The invention relates to a longitudinal guiding element for a motor vehicle seat, comprising two rail-type guide elements extending in the longitudinal direction of the seat, and a guiding device by which means one guide element can be displaced in the longitudinal direction of the seat in relation to the other guide element. According to the invention, a first sliding guide () is formed by a guiding slide () provided on one rail () and a guiding pin () provided on the other rail (), and the second sliding guide () is formed by a guiding pin () provided on one rail () and a guiding slide () provided on the other rail (). The two sliding guides are successively arranged in the longitudinal direction of the seat.

The invention relates to a motor vehicle seat comprising a backrest which can be moved from at least one position of use wherein it protects the back of the passenger, to a seating surface of the motor vehicle seat, an upholstery carrier which receives the seat upholstery which defines the seating surface and the place where the passenger can sit, and a coupling element which enables the backrest to be coupled to the upholstery carrier in such a manner that said support is displaced when the backrest is moved, especially lowered and/or displaced in the longitudinal direction of the seat. According to the invention, the coupling element is elastically mounted by means of an elastic element in such a manner that when the backrest is moved, the elastic element is initially deformed before the coupling element can act upon the upholstery carrier.

A motor vehicle seat includes a pivotally mounted backrest such that the inclination of the backrest can be adjusted. The backrest has a front face that supports the back of a seat occupant. The seat has a spring assembly including at least one elastic element, which elastically pretensions the backrest to bias the backrest pivotally forwards such that the front face of the backrest can come to rest against the back of the seat occupant. The inclination of the backrest is adjustable by the exertion of force on its front face in opposition to the a force of the spring assembly. The spring assembly exerts a force on a gear element that is coupled to the backrest. A locking device is allocated to gear element, permitting the backrest to be locked in different positions.

The invention relates to a seat assembly for a motor vehicle seat, comprising a seat frame, which defines a seating surface for a motor vehicle occupant and pivotally mounted backrest, which can be folded onto the seating surface about a pivoting axis. According to the invention, the pivoting axis is displaced along a predetermined path, when the backrest is folded forwards onto the seating surface.
