The system includes a display generator for generating a visual display on the display device, and a sensor suite having at least one tracking camera. The system further includes a support module including: a user-replaceable, modular battery that is removably insertable into a housing of the support module, and a processor unit configured to receive data from the sensor suite and calculate a position and an orientation of at least one marker. The support module is electrically coupled to the head-worn display device to provide power and data to the head-worn display device. The display device and the support module together comprise the entire sensing and computing capability of the system, without requiring external sensors, cameras, computers, or other electrical equipment.

Light emitted from the light source can be detected by light detectors inside a training apparatus configured to receive the injection. A prompt is displayed in the video game requesting a user-performed first gameplay motion using the electronic video game device where the first gameplay motion is a pre-defined motion used for calibrating the magnetometer. A first plurality of measurements is received from the magnetometer relating to a magnetic field in a physical gameplay environment, where the first plurality of measurements is taken by the magnetometer during the first gameplay motion. The first plurality of measurements is analyzed to detect a magnetic bias in the magnetometer. The magnetometer is calibrated to offset the magnetic bias.

This disclosure relates to systems and methods for augmenting an appearance of a hilt to simulate a bladed weapon. A hilt may be augmented with a blade of a bladed weapon by detecting a landmark associated with the hilt, determining a position and/or an orientation of the hilt, determining an overlay image comprising the blade of the bladed weapon, wherein the blade is placed within the overlay image according to the determined position and/or the determined orientation of the hilt, and displaying the overlay image so that the blade of the bladed weapon appears to be attached to the hilt.
