The invention provides a catalyst composition, including a mixture of catalytically active particles and a magnetic material, such as superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles, capable of inductive heating in response to an applied alternating electromagnetic field. The catalytically active particles will typically include a base metal, platinum group metal, oxide of base metal or platinum group metal, or combination thereof, and will be adapted for use in various catalytic systems, such as diesel oxidation catalysts, catalyzed soot filters, lean NOx traps, selective catalytic reduction catalysts, ammonia oxidation catalysts, or three-way catalysts. The invention also includes a system and method for heating a catalyst material, which includes a catalyst article that includes the catalyst composition and a conductor for receiving current and generating an alternating electromagnetic field in response thereto, the conductor positioned such that the generated alternating electromagnetic field is applied to at least a portion of the magnetic material.

Catalyst composition comprising magnetic material adapted for inductive heating

The present disclosure provides a catalyst composition comprising a catalytically active platinum group metal (PGM) component disposed on or impregnated in a magnetic ferrite support material, wherein the magnetic ferrite support material is capable of inductive heating in response to an applied alternating electromagnetic field. Further provided are catalyst articles comprising such compositions, and components comprising such catalyst articles, and further comprising a conductor associated with the catalyst article for receiving current and generating an alternating electromagnetic field in response thereto, wherein the conductor is positioned such that the generated alternating electromagnetic field is applied to at least a portion of the catalyst composition, inductively heating the catalyst composition directly at the catalytic site. Also provided are exhaust gas treatment systems including such components and/or articles, and methods of treating emissions utilizing such components and systems.

The present disclosure is directed to an emission treatment system for NOabatement in an exhaust stream of a lean burn engine. The emission treatment system includes a lean NOtrap (LNT) in fluid communication with and downstream from the lean burn engine and a low-temperature NOadsorber (LT-NA) in fluid communication with and downstream of the LNT. Further provided is a method for abating NOin an exhaust stream from a lean burn engine utilizing the disclosed system.

The present disclosure provides catalyst compositions and catalytic articles capable of storing and/or reducing nitrogen oxide (NO) emissions in engine exhaust, catalyst articles coated with such compositions, and processes for preparing such catalyst compositions and articles. The catalyst compositions include copper and palladium co-exchanged zeolites. Further provided is a process for preparing such co-exchanged zeolites, an exhaust gas treatment system including the catalytic articles disclosed herein, and methods for reducing NOin an exhaust gas stream using such catalytic articles and systems.

Zeolite catalysts and systems and methods for preparing and using zeolite catalysts having the CHA crystal structure are disclosed. The catalysts can be used to remove nitrogen oxides from a gaseous medium across a broad temperature range and exhibit hydrothermal stable at high reaction temperatures. The zeolite catalysts include a zeolite carrier having a silica to alumina ratio from about 15:1 to about 256:1 and a copper to alumina ratio from about 0.25:1 to about 1:1.

Described is a selective catalytic reduction catalyst comprising a zeolitic framework material of silicon and aluminum atoms, wherein a fraction of the silicon atoms are isomorphously substituted with a tetravalent metal. The catalyst can include a promoter metal such that the catalyst effectively promotes the reaction of ammonia with nitrogen oxides to form nitrogen and HO selectively over a temperature range of 150 to 650&#xb0; C. In another aspect, described is a selective catalytic reduction composite comprising an SCR catalyst material and an ammonia storage material comprising a transition metal having an oxidation state of IV. The SCR catalyst material promotes the reaction of ammonia with nitrogen oxides to form nitrogen and HO selectively over a temperature range of 150&#xb0; C. to 600&#xb0; C., and the SCR catalyst material is effective to store ammonia at temperatures of 400&#xb0; C. and above. A method for selectively reducing nitrogen oxides, and a method for simultaneously selectively reducing nitrogen oxide and storing ammonia are also described. Additionally, an exhaust gas treatment system is also described.

Molecular sieve catalyst compositions, catalytic composites, systems, and methods

Catalysts, methods, and systems for treating diesel engine exhaust streams are described. In one or more embodiments, the catalyst comprises a molecular sieve having a silica to alumina ratio (SAR) less than about 30, the molecular sieve including ion-exchanged copper and ion-exchanged platinum. Systems including such catalysts and methods of treating exhaust gas are also provided.

Bimetallic catalysts for selective ammonia oxidation

A lean NOtrap composition for the treatment of exhaust gas emissions, such as the oxidation of unburned hydrocarbons (HC), and carbon monoxide (CO), and the trapping and reduction of nitrogen oxides (NO) is disclosed. The lean NOtrap composition can have a washcoat layer on a carrier substrate including a first support material comprising greater than 50% by weight of a reducible metal oxide; 10 to 30% by weight of alkaline earth metal supported on a second support material comprising a refractory metal oxide and 50% or less by weight of a reducible metal oxide and; and a platinum group metal component supported on at least one of the first support material and/or the second support material. A portion of the first support material may further include 0.5% to 10% by weight of an alkaline earth metal.

The present invention relates to catalyzed soot filter comprising a porous wall flow substrate, a catalyst for selective catalytic reduction (SCR), a palladium component, and a platinum component, the wall flow substrate comprising an inlet end, an outlet end, a substrate axial length extending between the inlet end and the outlet end, and a plurality of channels defined by internal walls of the wall flow substrate, wherein the plurality of channels comprise inlet channels having an open inlet end and a closed outlet end, and outlet channels having a closed inlet end and an open outlet end, and the SCR catalyst is provided on the entire surface of the inlet channel walls and on at least a portion of the surface of the pores within the channel walls underneath the surface of the channel walls coated with the SCR catalyst.
