An oil-water fractionation system is positioned within a wellbore on a subsurface end of a production tubing proximate to a production region. The fractionation system includes a permeable hydrophobic media for preferentially conveying an oil-enriched stream (reduced water-cut presence) from the production region into the production tubing, and a permeable oleophobic media for preferentially conveying a water-enriched stream (reduced oil-cut presence) into a second flow path. The permeable hydrophobic media and the permeable oleophobic media are in simultaneous hydraulic communication with the production region. The permeable hydrophobic media is manufactured with a relatively high effective permeability to oil, allowing the oil-enriched stream to flow through the permeable hydrophobic media into the production tubing. In contrast, the permeable oleophobic media is manufactured with a relatively high effective permeability to water, allowing the water-enriched stream to flow through the permeable oleophobic media into the second flow path.

Downhole production fluid fractionation system

A chemically-activated inflow control device. The inflow control device comprises a tubular body configured to be connected in series to joints of sand screen in a wellbore. The tubular body forms a bore that receives a slotted base pipe. At the same time, the tubular body is fluidly connected with the sand screen joints, forming an annular flow path between the slotted base pipe and surrounding sand screen. Production fluids moving into the sand screen pass across a component that degrades in the presence of water. If the well begins producing water, the degradable component will dissolve, activating a sealing mechanism within the inflow control device and closing a restricted flow path. In this way, production fluids are not able to travel from the annular flow path into the bore of the slotted base pipe. A method for completing a wellbore having a chemically-activated inflow control device is also provided.

Test systems and methods for evaluating erosion of a test sample. The test systems include a particulate distribution structure configured to receive a supplied particulate stream and to discharge a distributed particulate stream. The test systems also include a particulate acceleration structure configured to receive the distributed particulate stream and to generate an accelerated particulate stream. The test systems further include a test sample fixture configured to hold the test sample at a test sample location positioned such that the accelerated particulate stream is incident upon the test sample location. The methods include methods of operating the test systems.

Test system and methods for evaluating erosion of a test sample

A plunger sleeve for use in an artificial lift system for the production of hydrocarbons which includes an elongate body having an upper end, a lower end, and a central opening through the elongate body. The lower end includes a structural section forming at least a portion of the outer surface of the elongate body and a polymeric section forming at least a portion of an inner surface of the elongate body. At least a portion of the inner surface of the elongate body formed by the polymeric section within the lower end is configured to sealingly conform with a portion of an outer surface of a wellbore sealing device. An artificial lift system including the plunger sleeve and a method of proving artificial lift using the plunger sleeve is described.

Devices and methods for collecting pet droppings into bags and disposing of them in a way that the user and equipment avoid contact with the droppings are disclosed. In one embodiment, the mouth of an open bag is placed over the dropping and elastic cords manipulated by a remote handle wrap around the waste bag and closes its opening to snare the droppings. In another embodiment, two jaws are configured for sideways movement and to close over the dropping by a remote handle. A collection bag is placed inside the jaws with its rim wrapped around the jaws in a way that closing the jaws ensnares the droppings inside the bag.
