A lockup clutch for a torque converter is provided. The lockup clutch includes a piston including a first wedge surface and a support supporting the piston. The piston is axially slidable along the support in a first axial direction to cause engagement of the lockup clutch. The lockup clutch also includes a wedge including a second wedge surface. The wedge is axially movable along the support. The first wedge surface is arranged and configured with respect to the second wedge surface such that contact between the first wedge surface and the second wedge surface limits axial movement of the piston in a second axial direction opposite the first axial direction. A torque converter and a method of forming a lockup clutch are also provided.

A hub assembly for a torque converter is provided. The hub assembly includes a turbine hub including an inner radial surface, an outer radial surface and a channel for providing fluid from the inner radial surface to the outer radial surface. The turbine hub also includes a first seal and a second seal on the outer radial surface and a plenum groove in the outer radial surface axially between the first seal and the second seal. The channel extends radially into the plenum groove. A method for forming a hub assembly for a torque converter is also provided.

Hub assembly for a torque converter and related method

A centrifugal pendulum absorber for a torque converter is provided. The centrifugal pendulum absorber includes a center plate; a roller received in a roller slot formed in the center plate; and a first mass on a rear axial side of the center plate and a second mass on a front axial side of the center plate. The first and second masses are slidable with respect to the center plate along the slot roller. The first mass includes a first radially extending section and a first axial protrusion extending axially past a rear-side axial surface of the first radially extending section. The second mass includes a second radially extending section and a second axial protrusion extending axially past a front-side axial surface of the second radially extending section. A torque converter and a method of forming a centrifugal pendulum absorber are also provided.

Centrifugal pendulum absorber for a torque converter

A torque converter is provided. The torque converter includes a cover. The cover includes a radially extending section and an axially extending section extending axially from an outer radial end of the radially extending section. The torque converter also includes at least one baffle assembly attached to the radially extending section or the axially extending section of the cover. The at least one baffle assembly includes a plurality of baffles protruding from the cover to impact fluid flow in the torque converter. Methods of forming a torque converter are also provided.

A torque converter, including: an axis of rotation; a cover arranged to receive torque; an impeller including a shell non-rotatably connected to the cover; a turbine in fluid communication with the impeller and including a turbine shell including a radially outermost segment including a radially outermost end of the turbine shell, at least one blade connected to the turbine shell and an entirety of which is located radially inward of the radially outermost segment; a vibration damper including at least one spring and at least one tab directly engaged with at least one circumferential end of the at least one spring and non-rotatably connected to the turbine shell; at least one rivet passing though the radially outermost segment and fixedly connected to the radially outermost segment; and a torque converter clutch arranged to transmit torque from the cover to the damper when the torque converter clutch is closed.

Torque converter with rivet-balanced turbine and method thereof

A thrust washer for a torque converter is provided. The thrust washer includes an inner circumferential surface, an outer circumferential surface and a first axial surface extending from the inner circumferential surface to the outer circumferential surface. The axial surface includes a plurality of arcuate sections and a plurality of grooves circumferentially between the arcuate sections. Each of the arcuate sections includes an arcuate axial surface including a first section, a second section and a third section. The first and third sections extend circumferentially away from the second section in opposite directions and extend axially inward from the second section. A torque converter and a method for forming at least one torque converter are also provided.

A method of forming a stator for a torque converter is provided. The method includes casting a stator casting to include a body and blades on an outer circumferential surface of the body. The body includes excess material at an axial surface thereof. The method also includes machining the excess material to balance the stator casting. A torque converter is also provided. The torque converter includes a turbine, an impeller and a stator axially between the turbine and the impeller. The stator includes a stator casting including a body and blades on an outer circumferential surface of the body. The body includes a material segment at an axial surface thereof.

A cover hub assembly for a torque converter comprising: an axis of rotation; a cover including: an outer surface; an inner surface; and, at least two extruded pins protruding from inner surface and symmetrical about the axis of rotation; and, a cover hub including: a cylindrical wall having: a thickness; an inner cylindrical surface, symmetrical about the axis of rotation, forming an opening; and, an outer cylindrical surface symmetrical about the axis of rotation; a cover mounting portion including at least two mating holes for receiving said extruded pins; and, at least one flow groove extending from the outer cylindrical surface to the inner cylindrical surface.

A torque converter comprising: an axis of rotation; a first seal at a first radial distance relative to the axis of rotation; a second seal at a second radial distance relative to the axis of rotation; an impeller shell and a balancing plate defining at least a portion of a first hydraulic chamber; a piston plate sealed via the first seal to the balancing plate defining at least a portion of a second hydraulic chamber; a cover sealed to the piston plate via the second seal defining at least a portion of a third hydraulic chamber. A clutch plate is radially outward relative to the balancing plate. The sealing arrangement, effective at preventing drift-on or drift-off of the clutch due to dynamic pressure, features a first radial distance that is the same or equal to the second radial distance.

A repel assembly and method includes an engagement surface having an adhesive plane for securing to an object, a plurality of attachment spikes extending from the engagement surface at an angle transverse to the adhesive plane and a transport surface for supporting a fixture coupled to the plurality of attachment spikes, the fixture being positioned between the engagement surface and the transport surface. The repel assembly further includes an annular ring having an upper and lower ring coupled to the repel assembly, the lower ring having first and second ends spaced by a wiper body such that the annular ring repels debris from contacting and/or collecting on the transport surface.

A turbine assembly for a torque converter is provided. The turbine assembly includes a turbine including a plurality of holes and a thrust washer connected to the turbine. The thrust washer includes a bearing ring, at least one retaining post axially protruding from the bearing ring through at least one of the holes and at least one support post axially protruding from the bearing ring through at least one of the holes. The or each retaining post includes an outwardly radially protruding clip securing the thrust washer onto the turbine. A method for forming a turbine assembly is also provided.

A torque converter, including: an axis of rotation; a cover arranged to receive torque from an engine; an impeller shell fixedly secured to the cover; at least one impeller blade fixedly secured to the impeller shell; a turbine including a turbine shell and at least one turbine blade fixedly secured to the turbine shell; and an output arranged to non-rotatably connect to an input shaft for a transmission. The cover includes a plurality of indentations and a respective fastener located in each indentation and fixedly secured to the cover.

The impeller includes an impeller shell including blade supporting portions and fluid flow receiving portions between the blade supporting portions, the blade supporting portions being thicker than the fluid flow receiving portions; and a plurality of impeller blades, each of the impeller blades being connected to one of the blade supporting portions at an inner surface of the impeller shell. A method for forming an impeller of a torque converter is also provided.

A diverter assembly for a shower tub includes a housing having an inlet for receiving fluid and first and second outlets for discharging fluid. An endless advancement structure includes a flow plate fixed to the housing and a gearing arrangement rotatable relative to the flow plate. The flow plate includes a first opening in fluid communication with the first outlet and a second opening in fluid communication with the second outlet. The gearing arrangement includes third openings in fluid communication with the inlet. A handle is coupled to the gearing arrangement for selectively rotating the gearing arrangement in a single direction relative to the flow plate to alternate between placing the gearing arrangement in a first condition aligning one of the third openings with the first opening and placing the gearing arrangement in a second condition aligning one of the third openings with the second opening.
