A drug delivery device for placement in the eye includes a drug core comprising a pharmaceutically active agent, and a holder that holds the drug core. The holder is made of a material impermeable to passage of the active agent and includes an opening for passage of the pharmaceutically agent therethrough to eye tissue. The device includes a layer of material permeable to passage of the active agent. In assembling the device, a pin or weight, having a shape similar to the drug core, is used during curing of the permeable material.

Drug delivery device

A package for storing an implantable medical device during storage and shipping includes a containment region for containing the device, a flange surrounding the containment region, and lidstock sealed against this flange. A recess in the containment region permits insertion of a surgical gripping tool below the device support surface. The package may further include ribs that facilitate steadying or gripping the package during removal of the lidstock, and a separate receptacle for holding the device after removal from the containment region. The device is preferably a device implantable in the human eye.

This invention relates to compositions comprising pheniramine. In particular, it has been found that pheniramine in combination with n effective amount of a povidone provides improved comfort and reduces the symptoms of dryness compared to compositions with pheniramine alone.

Pheniramine-containing compositions and method for treating allergic responses

An oil-in-water emulsion for treating the skin comprising from about 2 to about 10 weight percent of a cationic emulsifier such as dimethyl distearyl ammonium halide, a substantially nonionizable humectant such as glycerine and a weakly acidic material having a disassociation constant of about I to 6. The amount of weakly acidic material is such that the pH of the finished emulsion is about 2.5 to 4.5. also disclosed is a method of preparing the emulsion.

Skin care composition

A oil-in-water emulsion for treating the skin comprising from about 2 to about 10 weight percent of a cationic emulsifier such as dimethyl distearyl ammonium halide, a substantially nonionizable humectant such as glycerine and a weakly acidic material having a disassociation constant of about 1 to 6. The amount of weakly acidic material is such that the pH of the finished emulsion is about 2.5 to 4.5. Also disclosed is a method of preparing the emulsion.

The present invention is directed to a method of forming an oil-in-water emulsion containing water-insoluble components, a water-soluble humectant, a weakly acidic component such as an alpha-hydroxy acid and a quaternary ammonium cationic emulsifier. The emulsion is used as a stable skin care cream.

Method for indicating neutralization of contact lens disinfecting

A composition and method for cleaning and disinfecting of contact lenses that employ an electrical field applied to a lens that causes contaminating deposits to migrate therefrom is described. The composition of the invention includes a pair of component materials having different electrochemical potentials wherein the materials are substantially contained in a form wherein each material remains sufficiently physically separated when in contact with opposite sides of the lens such that the difference in electrochemical potential between the two materials is sufficient to cause charged contaminating deposits to migrate from the lens. The method of the invention requires placing a contaminated lens between a pair of component materials having different electrochemical potentials wherein physical separation is maintained, preferably, by including one of the components in a gel while the other component is in solution or another gel. Preferably, one component of the pair of materials is an oxidizing agent while the second component is a reducing agent. An example of a suitable pair is hydrogen peroxide suspended in a carbopol gel and a solution of sodium thiosulfate, as the reducing agent. A lens is coated with the oxidant gel, placed in the reductant solution and held at room temperature for 2-4 hours, wherein the electrochemical field established between the pair achieves about a 29% protein removal.
