A leakage protection system for a heating, ventilation, and air condition (HVAC) system can comprise: a power source; a louvered assembly including a frame, slats spaced apart vertically within the frame and extending from a first side to a second side of the frame, an actuator rod operably coupled to the slats, and a spring; a solenoid operably coupled to the actuator rod; and a first pressure switch disposed electrically between the power source and the solenoid.

Systems and methods for mitigating leaking flammable refrigerants

An in-seat mini-bar assembly, apparatus and method of manufacture is provided. The assembly includes a housing that is insertable into a compartment of the seating module and includes a container with an interior cavity that is conductively cooled by thermo-electric elements of a micro-chiller unit mounted on a conductive rear plate that forms an exterior side of the container. A vent is configured proximate to a front section of the housing to receive outside air forward of the housing for channeling the outside air to a rear section of the housing using a duct attached to the vent at the front section. The duct is shaped for a fluidic intake of the outside air by a frontal flange having a wide cross-sectional area that is gradually tapered to a circular cross-sectional area to direct the airflow in a uniform manner.

A system for monitoring an excimer bulb includes a thermoelectric energy harvester configured to be located adjacent to the excimer bulb and to convert thermal energy from the excimer bulb into electrical energy having a voltage. The system further includes a controller in electrical communication with the thermoelectric energy harvester and configured to calculate at least one of a remaining useful life of the excimer bulb or a current temperature of the excimer bulb based on the voltage of the electrical energy converted by the thermoelectric energy harvester.

An excimer lamp includes a plurality of arc tubes and an electrode pair. The electrode pair comprises a plurality of elongated electrode plates extending along a tube axis direction of the plurality of arc tubes. Each electrode plate comprises a polarity opposite that of an adjacent electrode plate (i.e., alternating polarities). A sanitization apparatus may include an excimer lamp and a power supply. The power supply includes a power converter including a capacitor, a wide band gap device configured to receive an electric current from the capacitor, and an inductor configured to receive the electric current from the wide band gap device. The power converter is configured to supply a nano second pulse output voltage signal to the excimer lamp.

A method for estimating the brake wear of a brake installed in a vehicle is described herein, comprising acquiring an initial mass of the brake; quantifying the amount of energy that is being dissipated by the brake over a first time period, measuring a temperature increase of the brake over the first time period; estimating the brake mass based on the amount of dissipated energy and the temperature increase; and comparing the initial mass of the brake with the estimated brake mass and estimating the brake wear based on this comparison. The method for brake wear estimation may use indirect or direct methods for quantifying the amount of energy that is dissipated. A system for estimating brake wear and performing this method is also described.

Direct and indirect methods for aircraft brake wear estimation

A personal aircraft seat air treatment system may include an air blower, a ventilation output component installed within a passenger compartment, and a treatment component fluidically coupled to the air blower and the ventilation output component. The air blower may be configured to receive cabin air from a cabin air ventilation system installed in an aircraft cabin. The ventilation output component may be configured to provide treated air to a breathing area of a passenger proximate to an aircraft seat installed in the passenger compartment. The treatment component may be fluidically coupled to the air blower and the ventilation output component. The treatment component may be configured to receive the cabin air from the air blower and treat the cabin air to generate the treated air.

A heat transfer system (e.g., a heat pump) can include at least a first fin array and at least a first pump disposed in fluid communication with the first fin array and configured to cause a first fluid to flow through the first fin array. The system can include at least a first heat transfer layer attached to and/or in thermal communication with the first fin array. The first heat transfer layer can define a second fluid flow path therein for a second fluid to flow fluidly isolated from the first fluid. The first heat transfer layer and the first fin array can be configured to cause heat transfer between the first fluid and the second fluid.
