A three dimensional cell culture and bioreactor system is provided. The system comprises one or more cell culture chamber. Each cell culture chamber comprises an inlet port and an outlet port in fluid communication with the cell culture chamber. The cell culture chambers may be segregated or in fluid communication with one another. The systems may be used to conduct drug efficacy test, isolate certain cell types from a complex tissue sample of multiple cell types, allow for the ex vivo culturing of patient tissue samples to help guide the course of treatment, and conduct co-culture experiments.

With the Quantified Self movement becoming prevalent, more people are looking to incorporate technology to acquire data regarding aspects of a person's daily life in terms of inputs (e.g. food consumed, quality of surrounding air), states (e.g. blood oxygen levels, body temperature), and/or performance. This self-monitoring concept combines wearable sensors with computing devices to produce an output to improve daily functioning. Disclosed is a device that senses and measures the created cavity temperature (CCT) within an artificial cavity in the wearer's body. This current device provides a wearable thermometer that measures temperature for a convenient, comfortable method of continuously tracking the wearer's temperature.

Culture chamber

An apparatus to facilitate precise and efficient evaluation of biomaterials using direct contact cell culture techniques. The apparatus positions the biomaterial and creates the potential to form a fluid-tight seal between the biomaterial and the apparatus, at which point the biomaterial is exposed to cells and/or media. An assay method based on the apparatus is claimed.

Apparatus and method for biomaterial assay

A biocompatible, biodegradable, copolymer is prepared from cross-linking a polylactic acid with a polysaccharide such as dextran. The resulting copolymer is a biodegradable hydrogel or solid having both hydrophobic and hydrophilic properties and provides for a mechanism in which biologically active agents may be covalently bonded to the dextran prior to incorporation of the dextran into a copolymer, and the subsequent release of the biologically active agents as the copolymer degrades.
