The invention provides a lubricating composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and an amine-functionalized additive, wherein the amine-functionalized additive is derived from an amine having at least 3 aromatic groups, at least one &#x2014;NH2 functional group, and at least 2 secondary or tertiary amino groups. The invention further provides for the additive to have improved thermal and oxidative stability modifying properties. The lubricating composition may include circulating oils, turbine oils, hydraulic fluids, transformer oils and greases as well as others that require good oxidation stability and good rust inhibition properties.

Lubricating composition containing a carboxylic functionalised polymer

A grease composition containing: (a) the reaction product of: (i) a calcium containing overbased organic acid; and (ii) at least one acid producing compound or derivatives thereof selected from the group consisting of: (1) a non-polymeric hydrocarbyl substituted dicarbonyl derivative selected from the group consisting of an acid, an ester, a salt, an anhydride, ester-acid, acid-salt and mixtures thereof; (2) a copolymer derived from monomers containing (1) an olefin; and (2) an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride or derivatives thereof; and (3) an inorganic acid containing about 2 or more acidic hydrogens; and (b) an oil of lubricating viscosity, wherein the overbased calcium sulphonate contains colloidally dispersed calcium carbonate is selected from the group consisting of calcite, vaterite and mixtures thereof. The invention further relates to the process to make the composition and its use in greases to increase water resistance.

Functionalized polymer composition for grease

A liquid extreme pressure agent for use in lubricating compositions where the lubricating compositions comprise an oil of lubricating viscosity and the reaction product of: (a) a thiazole; (b) a composition comprising a carboxylic acid, a phosphorus containing acid or salt, or combinations thereof; and (c) an amine containing one or more branched hydrocarbyl groups. The invention also provides an additive composition comprising the reaction product described above and a process for making lubricating compositions, including greases, from the reaction product.

Liquid extreme pressure additive

A grease composition containing a polymer with (a) monomers (i) at least one unsaturated &#x3b1;,&#x3b2;-carboxylic acid ester containing an alkyl group with about 10 to about 20 carbon atoms; and (ii) at least one unsaturated &#x3b1;,&#x3b2;-carboxylic acid ester containing an alkyl group with about 4 to about 11 carbon atoms different from monomer (i); and (iii) at least one unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride or derivatives thereof; and (iv) optionally at least one unsaturated &#x3b1;,&#x3b2;-carboxylic acid ester containing an alkyl group with about 1 to about 3 carbon atoms; and optionally (b) at least one non-monomeric amine with primary functionality, secondary functionality or mixtures thereof; and optionally (c) other performance additives; and (d) at least one thickening agent, and (e) an oil of lubricating viscosity. The invention further relates to the process to make the composition and its use in greases.

The invention relates to a novel emulsified composition comprising (a) major amount of an aqueous phase, (b) a minor amount of an organic phase and (c) a minor but effective amount of at least one emulsifier to emulsify the aqueous and organic phase resulting in a water in oil emulsified lubricants, in particular an emulsified greases. Further, the present invention provides a process for making the emulsified compositions.

This invention relates to a lubricating composition comprising a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity and a minor amount of a salt of at least one nitrogen containing polyacrylate and at least one phosphorus acid ester. The invention also relates to lubricating compositions and concentrates containing the same. The present phosphorus salts of the nitrogen containing copolymers provide improved dispersant, viscosity improver and antiwear properties to lubricating compositions.

A carboxylic composition comprising hydrocarbon substituted carboxylic acylating agents prepared by reacting a polyolefin and a terpolymer, simultaneously or individually in any order, with at least one carboxylic reactant selected from the group consisting of compounds of the formula R,C(O)(R,),C(O)OR,(IV) wherein each of R,and R,is independently H or a hydrocarbyl group, R,is a divalent hydrocarbylene group, and n is 0 or 1, and reactive sources thereof, derivatives of the foregoing carboxylic compositions, with one or more of (1) an amine characterized by the presence within its structure of at least one HN<group; (2) an alcohol; (3) a reactive metal or a reactive metal compound; and (4) a mixture of two or more of (1) through (3); the components of (4) being reacted with the mixture of carboxylic acylating agents simultaneously or sequentially, in any order, and additive concentrates and lubricating oil and fuel compositions containing these compositions.
