It is described herein a hydraulic lifter for an internal combustion engine. The hydraulic lifter may comprise a lifter body, a self-contained hydraulic cartridge, a pushrod seat, and a retaining clip. The self-contained hydraulic cartridge may be disposed within a cartridge bore in the lifter body. The self-contained hydraulic cartridge may comprise a self-contained hydraulic system such that a lifter piston of the hydraulic system is not directly disposed within a bore in the lifter body.

A nozzle for mixing and delivering two or more components and method of use thereof. One variation provides a nozzle that injects a first component, such as fuel, into a flow plume for a second component, such as nitrous oxide, for use with combustion engines. The nozzle receives two or more separate flows of components (e.g., gases and/or liquids), one of which is pressurized so as to be outputtable from the nozzle as a plume. The plume is directed so as to encompass an output extension for the other component near the plume edge, thereby enhancing mixture of the components. In addition, the plume produces a low pressure draw of the second component from the output extension, the low pressure draw varying with plume velocity, in turn varying with delivery pressure of the first component. The plume flow of the second component also atomizes the first component, further enhancing mixing.

Nitrous fuel nozzle and method of use

An air amplifier and method and system for using a source of compressed oxygen enhancer, such as nitrous oxide, to increase air flow into an internal combustion engine, providing increased power gain for the engine over the power gain provided by the addition of the oxygen enhancer alone. A source of compressed gas is fed into an air amplifier positioned in the air intake tube for the engine, such as a hose or other conduit which leads to, for example, the throttle body for the fuel injector system. The compressed gas, which includes or is made up of an oxygen enhancer, such as nitrous oxide, is fed into the air amplifier near the inner edge of the air intake tube, producing a Coanda effect, such that air intake into the engine is greatly increased. The device is useful in conjunction with oxygen enhancer systems, such as nitrous oxide kits for feeding nitrous oxide into the throttle body for fuel injected internal combustion engines.

A low power or current draw adjustable trigger switch and method and system for using the adjustable trigger switch in conjunction with a triggered accessory for an internal combustion engine, such as a feed from a source of compressed oxygen enhancer, such as nitrous oxide. The adjustable trigger switch, in operation in conjunction with the triggered accessory, allows selective activation of the accessory to, for example, improve engine performance. In one application, the triggering occurs via an engine electrical output, such as a throttle position sensor (TPS) voltage. The trigger, which includes, for example, an operational amplifier circuit, logic gates, or a series of transistors (e.g., a Schmitt trigger), operated in conjunction with a user variable setting, such as a potentiometer, and an indicator for proper setting, such as a light emitting diode (LED), allows variable tailoring of the trigger to the sensed output at a selected output setting without incurring significant power or current draw from the sensed output. Another aspect of the invention is use of a low power or current draw switch, such as a metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) that further allows triggered accessory operation at high power or current draw without producing high power or current through the sensing circuit itself.

The present invention relates to a nitrous oxide injection device and system, and a method of installation of the device and system, and, in particular, to a self-contained, easy to install nitrous oxide device that provides fuel delivery that varies with nitrous oxide tank pressure by way of a manifold that is pressurized by a bleed orifice from the nitrous oxide source. The pressure from the manifold is transferred by a connection to the fuel pressure regulator of the vehicle, so that fuel delivery varies proportionally to the pressure of the nitrous oxide source.
