One embodiment is directed to a system comprising a portable device executing a mobile application; and a rack controller without a display unit, the rack controller comprising a base unit. The base unit includes a processor configured to execute software that directs the processor to interact with the mobile application to show information and receive user input associated with the rack controller and at least one of rack and patching equipment installed in one or more racks even if there is not a display unit coupled to the base unit. In additional embodiments, a rack controller is configured to determine whether each rack controller interface is connected to another rack controller as a function of a respective sense signal developed by the termination circuit associated with said rack controller interface. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Rack controller with native support for intelligent patching equipment installed in multiple racks

A system for cabling infrastructure that includes at least one port, at least one shutter, at least one sensor and a gateway is provided. The port is configured to be selectively coupled to a connector. Each shutter is configured to have an open state that allows access to an associated port and a closed state that covers the port. Each sensor is configured to sense the open state and the closed state of an associated shutter and generate shutter state signals that include information relating to a current sensed state of the associated shutter and an identification of a port that is associated with the associated shutter. The gateway is in wireless communication with each sensor to receive the shutter state signals. The gateway is configured to communicate the shutter state signals that indicate a change in a state of an associated shutter to a remote location.

Internet of things (IOT) system for cabling infrastructure

Port occupancy detection for connector panels is provided. In one embodiment, a connector panel comprises: a communications unit communicatively coupled to a network; and at least one modular port adapter assembly comprising: a plurality of communications couplers; and a plurality of port occupancy sensors each coupled to a sensor circuit. Each of the port occupancy sensors are configured to sense when the couplers are occupied. The panel communications unit obtains from the sensor circuit which of the couplers are occupied. The panel communications unit communicates port occupancy information to a gateway indicating circuit which of the couplers are occupied. A chassis including sidewalls extends between a front and a rear to define an interior, and including guides on the sidewalls. A plurality of blades mounted to the guides of the chassis, each blade including a midplane bus assembly configured to communicatively couple the sensor circuit to the panel communication unit.

Port occupancy detection for high density panels

One embodiment is directed to a multi-rack rack controller for an automated infrastructure management (AIM) system comprising a plurality of independent patching equipment bus interfaces. Another embodiment is directed to a rack controller comprising at least one rack controller interface configured to connect the rack controller to another rack controller. Each rack controller interface comprises a respective termination circuit. The rack controller is configured to determine whether each rack controller interface is connected to another rack controller as a function of a respective sense signal developed by the termination circuit associated with said rack controller interface. Another embodiment is directed to a rack controller comprising a base unit having a locate button disposed on the front of the base unit. Other embodiments are disclosed.
