Systems and methods for executing compiled code having parallel code fragments is provided. One method includes storing executable code having a plurality of parallel code fragments, each of the plurality of parallel code fragments representing alternative executable paths through a code stream. The method further includes determining a code level supported by a processor executable at a computing system, the processor executable supporting a hosted computing environment. The method also includes translating the executable code into machine-readable code executable by a processor of the computing system. Translating the executable code includes selecting a code fragment from among the plurality of parallel code fragments for execution based on the code level supported by the processor executable. The method includes executing the machine-readable code within the hosted computing environment.

One method includes applying a container to multimedia content using one or more computing systems, the container defining an interface through which metadata external to the multimedia content is linked with one or more portions of the multimedia content. The method further includes receiving a request for the multimedia content from a content consumer. The method also includes associating a set of metadata describing one or more interactive features with the multimedia content, the set of metadata linked to at least a portion of the multimedia content via the container and selected from a database including metadata defining interactive features capable of being associated with the multimedia content. The method also includes, upon receiving a request for playback of the multimedia content, providing the multimedia content and the one or more interactive features to the content consumer.

Methods and systems for converting speech to text are disclosed. One method includes analyzing multimedia content to determine the presence of closed captioning data. The method includes, upon detecting closed captioning data, indexing the closed captioning data as associated with the multimedia content. The method also includes, upon failure to detect closed captioning data in the multimedia content, extracting audio data from multimedia content, the audio data including speech data, performing a plurality of speech to text conversions on the speech data to create a plurality of transcripts of the speech data, selecting text from one or more of the plurality of transcripts to form an amalgamated transcript, and indexing the amalgamated transcript as associated with the multimedia content.

An embodiment of the invention is a technique to affinitize a thread in a multiprocessor system having N clusters of processors. A usage status of an active thread in the multiprocessor system is determined. The active thread utilize one of first and second local memories associated with first and second processor configurations, respectively. One of the first and second processor configurations is selected based on the usage status.

A method and a system is disclosed for managing distribution of computer-executable program threads between a plurality of central processing units (CPUs) administered by an operating system in a multi-CPU computer system having a plurality of memory caches shared amongst the CPUs. The method includes assigning the CPUs to a plurality of CPU-groups of a predetermined group-size, selecting a CPU-group form the CPU-groups, setting a predetermined threshold for the selected CPU-group, and affinitizing a program thread to the selected CPU-group based on the predetermined threshold wherein the operating system distributes the program threads among the CPU-groups based on the affinitizing. In this way, the memory access time delays associated with the transfer of data amongst the CPU-groups can be advantageously reduced while the ability to more effectively utilize the total number of available CPUs in the processing of the program threads is advantageously increased.
