A system and method for sensor quality detection continuously monitors a context (vehicle state, proximal environmental factors, surrounding environmental conditions) surrounding a vehicle as well as actual sensor output. The system compares actual sensor output with expected sensor output to determine if the sensor has become degraded or if the degradation is due to the surrounding context. Once the system determines the context-based or actual degradation, it determines if the sensor is able to complete an assigned tasking with the degradation within the specific mission-based requirements of the sensor. Should the degraded sensor be unable to complete the task, the system transfers the tasking to a second vehicle equipped with an operational sensor.

Sensor quality detection

A system and method for automation of flight functions across an aircraft cockpit provides an open systems architecture to meet next generation mission capabilities for increased aircrew effectiveness. A mission reasoner (MR) receives inputs from a vehicle health system, mission phase analysis, and external assets (wingmen) to build a decision network based on a knowledge database providing a decision aid to automate flight functions across the cockpit. The MR reduces crew workload by providing an automated decision aid and increased situational awareness of own ship aircraft and cooperating nearby vehicle health status relating to a phase of mission success. The MR provides predictive decisions and alternative actions to complete one or more desired mission objectives and determines predictive maintenance and future failures to optimize condition-based maintenance and reduce cost.

Mission reasoner system and method

A method includes displaying content including an environment, a user entity, and a synthetic entity. The user entity is controllable by a user with respect to the environment and the synthetic entity. The environment and the synthetic entity operate according to a pre-scripted scheme. The method further includes receiving user information. The user information is at least one of a user input and a current physiological state of the user. The method further includes modifying the pre-scripted scheme based on the user information and prior user information. The prior user information comprises at least one of a prior user input and a prior physiological state of the prior user received in response to an interaction of the prior user with the pre-scripted scheme.

A system and method for an interactive avionics display system integrates a large-format primary avionics display, a secondary avionics display capable of mirroring the display of electronic flight bag mobile devices, a format selector panel, and a keyboard panel. Background displays and foreground multifunction windows generated by the display system house applications and display relevant avionics data. The multifunction windows can be resized or repositioned on the display surface using finger contacts and gestures. Format selector panels include control selectors corresponding to the multifunction windows, the control selectors responsive to finger contact with the format selector panels or the corresponding multifunction windows. Keyboard panels provide touch-sensitive radio and communications controls as well as an alphanumeric keyboard responsive to finger contact with text fields generated by the display.

A system and method are provided for tracking access. At least one passive wireless identification device is provided at a personnel access point. Communication is established between a mobile device and the at least one passive wireless identification device when the mobile device passes the personnel access point. Occurrences of the established communication between the mobile device and the at least one passive wireless identification device are separately communicated to a remote data collection device. The occurrences of the established communication between the mobile device and the at least one passive wireless identification device are recorded in the remote data collection device. Data based on the recorded occurrences of the established communication between the mobile device and the at least one passive wireless identification device is output from the remote data collection device.

Tracking personnel access to aircraft on the ground

A system, device, and method for capturing avionics data are disclosed. The avionics data capturing system could include an indicating device(s), image capturing device(s), a processing unit (PU), and a user system(s). The PU may acquire image data captured by the image capturing device(s) such as a camera sensor and/or infrared sensor, where the image data may be representative of an image of an object image(s) of a vehicle component(s) being viewed by an occupant located in the vehicle; classify the object image(s) as a function of a contextual image classification algorithm; determine a location for each classified object image as a function of the classified reference scale image(s); generate output data representative of each classified object image; and provide the output data to the user system(s). When received, a user(s) of the user system(s) may be presented with information regarding the component(s) being viewed by the occupant.

Avionics data capturing system, device, and method

A method for operating a distributed flight management system. The method includes operating a control station instance of the distributed flight management system. The method includes receiving flight management system data from a remotely accessed vehicle. The method includes receiving time-space-position information of the remotely accessed vehicle from the remotely accessed vehicle. The method includes updating the control station instance of the distributed flight management system based at least on the received flight management system data and the time-space-position information of the remotely accessed vehicle. The method includes outputting updated flight management system data for transmission to the remotely accessed vehicle to synchronize a remotely accessed vehicle instance of the distributed flight management system with the control station instance of the distributed flight management system.

Distributed flight management system

A system and related method is disclosed for applying a training tag to an entity within a training scenario and presenting the entity based on the applied tag. The method receives sensor data from of a plurality of onboard sensors, truth data and state data via a training and tactical network, and simulation data representative of Live, Virtual and Constructive training entities. The method applies Multi Sensor Integration techniques to the received data to display a single presentation where appropriate within the scenario. Based on a defined set of attributes, the method attaches a training specific tag to each integrated representative data set and applies a rules set to determine whether and how to present each received and tagged training entity to a trainee.
