A saturation indication system includes a sorbent body with a film backing being irreversibly bonded to the sorbent body. A universal indicating ink formulation is at least partially coated onto the film backing such that the ink formulation is disposed between the film backing and the sorbent body. The universal indicating ink formulation includes a resin and a dye dispersed in the resin. The dye is configured to indicate a state of saturation of the sorbent body, with the resin and the dye being soluble in a plurality of categories of sorbates consisting of hydrophobic sorbates, hydrophilic sorbates, neutral sorbates, and amphiphilic sorbates.

Universal solvent indicating system

The present disclosure describes various example multi-layer printing sheets, and systems and methods for manufacturing the same. An example printing sheet comprises: a die-cut or perforated printable film portion; an adhesive layer; a clear ink layer; and a bottom layer. The printable film portion may be die-cut or perforated to form a band shape. A release layer may be placed between the adhesive layer and the bottom layer or the adhesive layer and the clear ink layer. A portion of the printing sheet may include a die cut printable paper portion; the printable paper portion comprises a printable paper layer includes one or more labels die cut into it; and the printable paper layer is connected to the bottom layer via an adhesive. A release may be placed between the adhesive layer and the bottom layer of the printable paper portion.

Stabilizing a detachable item on a printable substrate

A dye-based, multilayer time-indicating label without initial gray time comprises a multilayer first part and a multilayer second part. The first part comprises a topsheet in contact with an enhancement layer and an optional reference layer, and the enhancement layer is in contact with a timing layer. The second part comprises a dye layer, an optional dark layer, and a substrate layer. The timing layer and the dye layer are separate from one another, and are optionally protected by one or more release liners. To activate the indicator, the timing and dye layers are separated from the one or more release liners and then joined to one another.

Multi-layer, edge ingress, tamper- and solvent-indicating labels comprise a top film layer coated over a solvent, e.g., water, hydrocarbon, etc., and dye absorbing layer. The solvent and dye absorbing layer can be on top of a porous layer comprising a binder, pigment and particles of a solvent-soluble dye. The porous layer can be on top of an edge-wicking layer which itself is on top of a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) layer. The edge-wicking layer both absorbs and transports solvent thus serving as a means for transporting solvent to the solvent-soluble dye.
