A vehicle assembly can include a vehicle body structure, a front seat, a rear seat, and a grab bar assembly. The vehicle body structure can define a passenger area. The front seat can be mounted to the vehicle body structure. The rear seat can be mounted to the vehicle body structure. The grab bar assembly can be mounted to the vehicle body structure. The grab bar assembly can include a grab bar, a spacer bar and a cover assembly. The grab bar can extend across the passenger area. The spacer bar can be attached to the grab bar, with a first gap formed between the spacer bar and the front seat, and a second gap formed between the spacer bar and the grab bar. The cover assembly can be attached to the spacer bar and positioned in the first gap.

The seat belt assembly includes a seat belt and an anchor. The anchor include an engagement mechanism for engaging the seat belt and a flange having a fastener hole. The fastener attaches the flange of the anchor to the collar.

The front frame assembly can include a pair of front frame members extending upwardly, and a pair of intermediate frame members spaced apart from each other in the transverse direction of the vehicle. Each of the intermediate frame members also can be connected to a cross member of the main frame assembly, and can include a bend such that each of the intermediate frame members buckles in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle if a load or kinetic energy applied to each of the intermediate frame members in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle exceeds a predetermined threshold.

A vehicular seat belt assembly can include a pair of lateral webbing strips configured to extend laterally across a first portion of vehicular passenger, distal ends being statically secured to the vehicular support structure, and proximal ends being selectively connected to and disconnected from each other. A pair of upper body strips can be configured to contact a second portion the passenger. An anchor can be statically secured to the vehicular support structure, and configured to guide each of the upper body strips so as to enable a change in a direction of extension of the upper body strips, and to thereby absorb a portion of a load created by the force applied to the passenger and applied to the upper body strips. A retractor assembly can be configured to enable length adjustment of the upper body strips if the load is below a certain threshold level.

Methods and apparatus for restraining vehicular passengers

A crash management system includes a main frame that is configured to define a vehicular passenger compartment and that includes a lower cross member generally extending along a transverse direction of the vehicle. A front sub-frame includes a pair of bent members. Each of the bent members includes a longitudinal portion that extends along a longitudinal direction of the vehicle and that is configured to support the suspension components. Each of the bent members also includes a bend portion that extends from the respective longitudinal portion at an angle and that is disposed between the respective longitudinal portion and the lower cross member of the main frame. The longitudinal and bend portions are configured such that each of the bend portions deform, and each of the longitudinal portions continue to extend substantially longitudinally, if the impact energy applied to the vehicle exceeds a first threshold.

A winch bracket assembly and method of mounting same on an associated vehicle includes a winch bracket extending from an end of a frame of the vehicle. A mounting arrangement secures the winch bracket to the frame of the associated vehicle and allows the winch bracket to have high rigidity relative to the frame in a first direction and a different, low rigidity relative to the frame in a second direction.

A net structure for a vehicle includes a first connection to a door arranged in a side opening of the vehicle for selectively closing a door opening portion of the side opening, a second connection to a roll cage frame at or adjacent an upper portion of a passenger seating compartment and a third connection to a vehicle frame of the vehicle. The roll cage frame at least partially defines the side opening. The net structure further includes a tautness axis defined between the second connection and the third connection that is substantially forward of a head area of the passenger compartment with tautness maintained along the tautness axis.

The energy absorbing panel can include a rib wall, a first plurality of ribs, a second plurality of ribs, and a plurality of openings formed in at least one of the first plurality of ribs. The lid can include a plurality of hooks. The rear surface of the lid can be secured to the plurality of ribs by a weld. The weld can cooperate with the plurality of ribs and the rear surface to define a first load path that extends from the lid to the energy absorbing panel. The plurality of hooks can extend from the rear surface and pass through respective ones of the plurality of openings. The plurality of hooks can engage the at least one rib via the respective openings and cooperate with the at least one rib to define a second load path from the lid to the energy absorbing panel that is separate from the first load path.
