A console includes a console surface, an interactive touch bar disposed within the console, the touch bar configured to move from a position recessed within the console surface to a position raised above the console surface and the touch bar being configured to receive user touch input, and a proximity sensor disposed on the console surface, the proximity sensor configured to detect a user gesture. The touch bar is configured to rise above the console surface when the proximity sensor detects the user gesture. The interactive surface comprising a capacitive surface zone configured to detect user touch input. The interactive touch surface is configured to receive sliding user input across the interactive touch surface to navigate through content options and is configured to receive pressing user input for selecting the content options.

A tablet computer dock for use in a passenger vehicle is configured to support a tablet computer for use or storage inside the passenger vehicle. The tablet computer dock illustratively includes a tablet receiver that defines a compartment sized to receive a tablet computer. The compartment is accessible through a slot sized to allow the tablet computer to pass into and out of the compartment.

A console includes a display and a plurality of individually-actuatable modules, including a physical key configured to slide into and out of a surface of the console. The modules include a motor, a threaded shaft coupled to and extending from the motor, and a movable platform movably attached to the threaded shaft. An in-vehicle system for controlling electrical systems of a vehicle includes a sensor that detects a presence or an absence of a left hand of a driver on a steering wheel of the vehicle and a sensor that detects a presence or an absence of a right hand of the driver on the steering wheel of the vehicle. Using data from the sensors, a controller may select, based on a prediction, one or more interactive control elements with which the driver will interact, wherein the selection is based on either a detected absence of the driver left hand on the steering wheel or a detected absence of the driver right hand on the steering wheel, and a controller increases a brightness of lighting elements associated with the selected interactive control elements.
