A computing device having the capability to dynamically select a voice that will be used by a speech synthesizer in creating synthesized speech for use in communicating with a user of the computing device is provided. For example, in some embodiments, the computing device: i) employs the speech synthesizer to have a first audible communication with the user using a first voice; ii) stores user satisfaction data that can be used to determine a user's satisfaction with an action the user took in response to the first audible communication; and iii) determines whether a different voice should be used during a second audible communication with the user based on the stored user satisfaction data.

The computing device is operative to select a physical location for placing a current virtual object, where the current virtual object appears to be placed when overlaid onto a video sequence capturing a physical scene in the surroundings of a user, based on an expected physical location which the user assumes in response to displaying the physical scene and the overlaid current virtual object to the user, and an attribute which is spatially dependent and which has an impact on a user experience of the AR software application. Taking the spatially-dependent attribute at the expected physical location of the user into consideration in selecting physical locations for placing virtual objects is advantageous in that virtual objects may be deployed at physical locations so as to provide an improved, or at least satisfactory, user experience to the users.

A system and method are provided for warning of an exposure of a second individual to an allergen by transfer from a first individual. Movements of the individuals are tracked so that allergen types and levels to which the individuals have been exposed can be obtained. Using knowledge of user sensitivity information to different allergens, it is determined if the first individual has been exposed to allergen types and levels which pose a risk to the second individual by GPS transfer from the first individual to the second individual. Electroencephalography (EEG) data is obtained that indicates brain activity of a particular user during a period in which that user views the UI and/or interprets help information that describes how to use the UI.
