Disclosed is an auto-injection apparatus for receiving a syringe, including: an outer casing enclosing a drive assembly and a syringe carrier configured to hold a barrel of the syringe, the syringe carrier being forward of the drive assembly and having stowed and delivery positions; an interlock extending between the syringe carrier and a syringe carrier housing at least partially surrounding the syringe carrier, the interlock preventing forward motion of the syringe carrier under the influence of an insertion actuator whilst in the stowed position. The drive assembly includes the insertion actuator for inserting a needle of the syringe into an injection site and a delivery actuator for driving a plunger into a barrel of the syringe which contains a substance for injection. The syringe carrier includes an interlock release mechanism which is configured to release the interlock such that the insertion actuator drives the syringe carrier forward.

Injection apparatus

An apparatus for a firing mechanismfor use in an injection deviceand comprising: a rear caphaving an elongate memberextending axially forwards when installed within the injection device; a plungerreleasably connected, directly or indirectly, to the elongate member and, upon release of the connection to the elongate member, axially displaceable in a forward direction; and a plunger driverto drive the plunger axially forwards upon release of the connection to the elongate member, wherein the plunger and the rear cap define an axial length of the assembly, which in turn determines a start position of a forward end of the plunger before release of the connection to the elongate member, and wherein, during construction of the assembly, the plunger is releasably connectable, directly or indirectly, to the elongate member at one of a plurality of positions for controlling the axial length of the assembly.

Injection device fill volume management

Injection device including a casing, a syringe carrier located within a proximal end of the casing and being movable along a longitudinal axis of the device between a stowed position and a needle insertion position, a drive assembly located within a distal end of the casing and being movable by an insertion driver in order to move the syringe carrier and a loaded syringe from a stowed position to a needle insertion position; a first formation fixed relative to the casing and a second formation fixed relative to an insertion tube of the drive assembly, the first and second formations defining a plurality of stop positions for the insertion tube relative to the casing, spaced along the direction of said longitudinal axis, to prevent significant rearward movement of the insertion tube along said axis when a plunger of a firing cartridge is released from a reaction assembly of the cartridge.

Injection device

An autoinjector includes: an insertion spring between a housing and plunger assembly; a syringe driver; a second release mechanism releasing the plunger assembly from the housing, causing the insertion spring to move the plunger assembly through the housing with a syringe driver; a stop limiting movement of the syringe driver in the housing; and a third release mechanism releasing the plunger assembly from the syringe driver upon engagement with the stop, allowing the plunger assembly to continue through the housing. The first release mechanism releases the plunger from the delivery spring housing upon contact between the plunger assembly and a bung, causing the delivery spring to separate the delivery spring housing and the plunger, applying a delivery force to a bung. A latch mechanism latches the delivery spring housing at a forward position, preventing rearward movement of the delivery spring housing following release of the plunger.

Injection device with gap reduction mechanism

An apparatus for a firing mechanism for use in an injection device and including: a rear cap having an elongate member extending axially forwards when installed within the injection device; a plunger releasably connected, directly or indirectly, to the elongate member and, upon release of the connection to the elongate member, axially displaceable in a forward direction; and a plunger driver to drive the plunger axially forwards upon release of the connection to the elongate member, wherein the plunger and the rear cap define an axial length of the assembly, which in turn determines a start position of a forward end of the plunger before release of the connection to the elongate member, and wherein, during construction of the assembly, the plunger is releasably connectable, directly or indirectly, to the elongate member at one of a plurality of positions for controlling the axial length of the assembly.

Disclosed is an injection device for receiving a syringe therein and for delivering a dose of medicament from the syringe, the injection device including: an insertion driver configured to drive the syringe forwards within the injection device for inserting a needle of the syringe into an injection site; an interlock mechanism configured to retain the insertion driver in a primed state and, when actuated, to allow the insertion driver to drive the syringe forwards; and an interlock actuator moveable between a stowed position and an operable position and configured on movement from the stowed position to the operable position to couple to an actuation system such that movement from the operable position back towards the stowed position actuates the interlock mechanism.
