A turbomachine having a rotor assembly, a stator assembly and a toroidal inductor. The rotor assembly includes an impeller. The inductor is located between the impeller and the stator assembly, and is exposed to an airflow generated by or acting upon the impeller.

Turbomachine

A compressor has a rotor assembly having an impeller for generating an airflow through the compressor, a stator core assembly for causing rotation of the impeller, and a diffuser assembly for acting on the airflow generated by the impeller. The diffuser assembly has a first diffuser stage and a second diffuser stage. The first and second diffuser stages are separate components connected to one another by a fastener.

Compressor

A handheld device comprising a motor for generating an airflow through the device, the motor including: a frame for supporting a rotor assembly and a stator assembly, the frame including an inner wall and an outer wall and a plurality of diffuser vanes extending between the inner wall and outer wall; a rotor assembly including a shaft, a magnet, a bearing assembly and an impeller; and a stator assembly including a bobbin, a stator core and a winding wound around the bobbin; the frame being formed of zinc and the impeller being formed of aluminium.

Motor and a handheld device having a motor

A rotor core assembly that includes a magnet, a first end cap located at an end of the magnet, a second end cap located at an opposite end of the magnet, and a sleeve that surrounds the magnet and the end caps. The sleeve forms an interference fit with each of the end caps, and an adhesive is located between the magnet and the sleeve. Additionally, a method of manufacturing the rotor core assembly.

Rotor core assembly

A centrifugal compressor that includes an impeller, a diffuser and a shroud. One of the diffuser and shroud includes a plurality of recesses and the other of the diffuser and shroud includes a plurality of radial vanes. The shroud covers the impeller and diffuser such that each radial vane projects into a respective recess.

Centrifugal compressor

A stator core that includes a pair of poles separated by an air gap. Each pole includes a first side adjacent the air gap and a second opposite side remote from the air gap. A pole arc is formed in the first side and an arcuate mounting recess is formed in the second side of each pole. Additionally, an electric machine that includes the stator core.

Stator core

A bearing assembly that includes a first bearing, a second bearing, a spring and a sleeve. The spring applies a preload to each of the bearings, and the sleeve surrounds the spring and the bearings. The sleeve includes an end portion that extends axially beyond the first bearing. The end portion includes a step down in the outer diameter that defines a seat for an o-ring.

Bearing assembly

A method of manufacturing a magnet assembly that includes surrounding a bonded magnet with a sleeve, heating the magnet, and compressing the magnet in an axial direction such that the magnet and sleeve expand in a radial direction.

Method of manufacturing a magnet assembly

A bearing assembly particularly suitable for the rotor arrangement of an electrical motor or generator includes a bearing located in a housing. The bearing has an inner race, an outer race, and a plurality of ball bearings between the inner and outer races. A portion of the housing is made up of a deformable flexible wall which permits the housing to conform to the shape of the outer race member, rather than forcing the outer race to conform to the shape of the housing, as was experienced hitherto.

A rotor assembly for an electronic machine such as a motor includes a rotor on a shaft having a bearing at each end portion, the bearings being arranged to rotatably support the rotor and shaft. The assembly further includes a balancing member, from which material may be removed for balancing the rotor assembly. The balancing member is located in a predetermined position and orientation with respect to the rotor. The balancing member includes an encoder disk, arranged to permit positioning of the rotor with respect to a stator. The provision of a balancing member having an integral encoder disk facilitates the manufacture of the rotor assembly. As the balancing member is located in a predetermined position, the encoder automatically assumes a predetermined position and hence the position of the rotor can be determined with certainty.
