An electrophotographic image forming device includes a replaceable unit that has a reservoir for holding toner. A circuit board is mounted within a pocket on a first side of a housing of the replaceable unit. The pocket has an opening facing a front of the housing to permit an electrical connector of the image forming device to enter the pocket and mate with the circuit board when the replaceable unit is installed in the image forming device. A first guide wall and a second guide wall are each positioned outside the pocket on the first side of the housing closer to the front of the housing than the opening. Inclined surfaces of the first and second guide walls are angled to move the electrical connector of the image forming device toward the circuit board during insertion of the replaceable unit into the image forming device.

An electrophotographic image forming device includes a replaceable unit that has a housing having an internal reservoir for storing toner. A circuit board retainer is positioned on an exterior surface of the housing. The retainer includes a top having an undersurface having first and second supports extending away from the undersurface of the top toward a bottom of the retainer. A mounting platform is positioned on the undersurface of the top intermediate the first and second supports and spaced apart from the bottom of the retainer. A circuit board is mounted on the mounting platform. The top and the first and second supports form an opening at the front of the retainer sized to receive an electrical connector of the image forming device for mating with the circuit board when the replaceable unit is installed in the image forming device.

A replaceable unit for an electrophotographic image forming device includes an electrical contact positioned within a pocket on a first side of a housing of the replaceable unit. The pocket has an opening facing a front of the housing to permit an electrical connector of the image forming device to enter the pocket and mate with the electrical contact. A first guide wall and a second guide wall are each positioned outside the pocket on the first side, in front of the opening. The first and second guide walls each include an inclined surface that inclines outward from the first side of the housing in a direction from the front to a rear of the housing to move the electrical connector of the image forming device toward the circuit board during insertion of the replaceable unit into the image forming device.

A replaceable unit for an electrophotographic image forming device according to one embodiment includes a housing having a toner reservoir and a circuit board retainer removably mounted on an exterior surface of a first side of the housing. The retainer includes a circuit board mounted on a mounting platform. The circuit board is spaced from the exterior surface of the first side of the housing forming a pocket between the circuit board and the exterior surface of the first side of the housing. The retainer includes an opening facing toward the front of the housing into the pocket formed between the circuit board and the exterior surface of the first side of the housing for receiving an electrical connector of the image forming device that mates with the electrical contacts of the circuit board when the replaceable unit is installed in the image forming device.

A replaceable unit for an electrophotographic image forming device includes a circuit board mounted within a pocket on a first side of a housing of the replaceable unit. A replaceable unit for an electrophotographic image forming device according to one embodiment includes a housing having an internal toner reservoir. A circuit board is mounted within a pocket on an exterior of the housing. An outer ramp is positioned outside the pocket and ahead of the pocket with respect to a direction of insertion of the replaceable unit into the image forming device. The outer ramp is angled to direct the electrical connector of the image forming device toward a plane of the circuit board during insertion of the replaceable unit into the image forming device. An inner ramp inside the pocket is angled to direct the electrical connector of the image forming device toward the plane of the circuit board during insertion of the replaceable unit into the image forming device.

Toner cartridge for an image forming device having a retainer assembly having positioning features for processing circuitry

A toner cartridge for an imaging forming device having a retainer for holding a circuit board having processing circuitry with a plurality of contacts. A reference datum point in the retainer aligns the circuit board with the retainer while an alignment device aligns the retainer with respect to the supply item that is inserted into a frame within the image forming device having an electrical connector with a plurality of connecting pins. When the retainer and circuit board are mounted on the supply item and the supply item is inserted into the frame, a pair of cam surfaces and a corresponding pair of supports spaced apart and extending from an outer surface of the housing, align the connector with the retainer with the retainer aligning the connecting pins of the connector with corresponding contacts of the circuit board for electrical interconnection therebetween.

A retainer mountable on an exterior surface of an insertable supply item of an image forming device for holding a circuit board having processing circuitry with a plurality of contacts. A reference datum point in the retainer aligns the circuit board with the retainer while a pair of alignment devices align the retainer with respect to the supply item. The supply item is inserted into a frame with the image forming device have an electrical connector having a plurality of connecting pins. When the retainer and circuit board are mounted on the supply item and the supply item is inserted into the frame of the image forming device, the retainer aligns the plurality of connecting pins of the connector with corresponding ones of the plurality of contacts of the circuit board for electrical interconnection therebetween.

An duplex auto-document feed mechanism comprises an auto-document feedpath having a simplex feedpath portion and a duplexing feedpath portion in feeding communication with the simplex feedpath portion, the auto-document feedpath has a media input and a media output, an input roller for feeding media disposed at the media input and an exit nip positioned near the media output, a motor driving the input roller and the exit nip, a scanning station disposed along one of the duplex feedpath portion and the simplex feedpath portion, the exit nip having a first position wherein first and second rollers defining the exit nip are closed when receiving media during a simplex feeding procedure and open when a leading edge and trailing edge of media are passing through the exit nip simultaneously, wherein a change of motor direction one of opens the exit nip or closes the exit nip.
