Various aspects of the present disclosure are directed toward apparatuses, systems, and methods that include an implantable lead. The lead may include a taper or tapered portion and a fixation helix both configured to embed within tissue. In addition, the apparatuses, systems, and methods may include a guide wire configured to obtain and record signals from the heart tissue and facilitate placement of the fixation helix.

An electrode assembly for the positioning of an electrode of an implantable medical lead includes a housing and an electrode subassembly. The housing includes a proximal end for connecting to the lead and a distal end. The housing defines a housing lumen extending between the proximal end and the distal end. The housing lumen includes internal screw threads extending along at least a portion of the housing lumen. The electrode subassembly is disposed at least partially within the housing lumen. The electrode subassembly includes a needle electrode and a coupler. The needle electrode is disposed coaxially with the longitudinal axis of the housing lumen. The coupler is disposed at a proximal end of the needle electrode. The coupler includes external screw threads engaged with the internal screw threads of the housing lumen such that rotation of the coupler moves the needle electrode along the longitudinal axis of the housing lumen.

A system for performing at least one impedance measurement on a biological subject, the system including a measuring device having a first housing including spaced pairs of foot drive and sense electrodes provided in electrical contact with feet of the subject in use, a second housing including spaced pairs of hand drive and sense electrodes provided in electrical contact with hands of the subject in use, at least one signal generator electrically connected to at least one of the drive electrodes to apply a drive signal to the subject, at least one sensor electrically connected to at least one of the sense electrodes to measure a response signal in the subject and a measuring device processor that at least in part controls the at least one signal generator, receives an indication of a measured response signal from the at least one sensor and generates measurement data indicative of at least one measured impedance value and a client device in communication with the measuring device, the client device being adapted to receive measurement data allowing the client device to display an indicator associated a result of the impedance measurement.

A system for performing at least one impedance measurement on a biological subject, the system including a measuring device having a signal generator that generates a drive signal, a sensor that measures a response signal and a measuring device processor that at least in part controls the at least one signal generator and receives an indication of a measured response signal from the at least one sensor, allowing the at least one impedance measurement to be performed. The system also includes a connectivity module having a connectivity module housing and electrodes that are provided in electrical contact with the subject in use. Respective first and second connectors are used to electrically connect the sensor and signal generator to the electrodes allowing a drive signal to be applied to the subject via first electrodes and allowing the response signal to be measured via second electrodes so that the at least one impedance measurement can be performed.

A terminal tool includes a main body, an electrical connector body, and an electrical connector. The main body includes a distal clamping section and a shaft. The shaft includes a window and a first lumen extending through the shaft for receiving a terminal end of an implantable lead. The electrical connector body includes a second lumen and is independently rotatable with respect to the main body. The shaft at least partially extends through the second lumen. The electrical connector is coupled to the electrical connector body and extends at least partially through the window of the shaft.

Various aspects of the present disclosure are directed toward apparatuses, systems, and methods that include a single pass implantable lead configured to be coupled to the implantable medical device and arranged to sense and pace the chambers of a patient's heart. The lead may include a proximal region having a plurality of electrodes, a distal region having at least one electrode, and an intermediate region therebetween. The system can sense and pace the right atrium, the left atrium, the right ventricle, and the left ventricle.

A medical device lead includes a flexible body having a proximal region with a proximal end, and a distal region with a distal end. A connector is coupled to the proximal end of the flexible body of the lead to electrically and mechanically connect the lead to an implantable pulse generator. A composite wire having a proximal end is electrically coupled to the connector. The composite wire includes an inner conductor element and a plurality of outer conductor elements adjacent to and radially spaced from the inner conductor element. A distal end of each of the inner conductor element and the plurality of outer conductor elements is connected to one of a plurality of electrodes in the distal region of the flexible body.

An implantable lead may have a distal assembly including a coupler and a fixation helix secured to the coupler. The fixation helix may be formed of a filar having a non-circular cross-sectional profile having a major dimension and a minor dimension. The major dimension may be disposed transversely to a longitudinal axis of the fixation helix.
