Embodiments relate generally to systems and methods for preventing arcing within a snap action switch, particularly by removing a portion of a contact carrier attached to a stationary contact. A method of forming a contact for use in a snap action switch may comprise welding a contact onto a contact carrier; trimming at least one edge of the contact carrier proximate to the contact; and installing the contact carrier into a snap action switch housing. Trimming the at least one edge of the contact carrier may also comprise removing flash formed during the welding of the contact to the contact carrier.

An electric parking brake control system for automatically controlling one or more parking brakes in a vehicle. The parking brake control system includes an electric brake switch in communication with a low-pressure switch for automatically applying the parking brakes. The electric brake switch is preferably a latching type mechanism, which is capable of controlling a solenoid air valve external to the vehicle cab. The low-pressure switch automatically monitors an air reservoir for a low-pressure condition. The electric brake switch incorporates a time delay upon release of the switch, in order to prevent inadvertent application of the parking brakes due to a momentary loss of vehicle electrical power.

A sealed dual plunger switch assembly includes two switch sub-assemblies comprising plunger actuating mechanisms and basic switches. The sub-assemblies can be inserted into an overall enclosure using shims in order to position their operate points in the desired range relative to the enclosure's mounting surface. The enclosure is then sealed using a combination of covers, gaskets, o-rings, connectors and potting. The sub-assemblies individually and/or simultaneously receive actuation inputs within a fixed distance from the assembly's mounting surface.

A switching device includes a housing having an exterior surface with at least one opening in the surface. An inner edge of the opening is for receiving and securing solid bodies. At least a portion of the inner edge of the opening includes an integral weld tab which is raised above a level of the exterior surface. A sensing body includes a sensing structure operable to sense at least one condition. The sensing body has an outer surface that is disposed partially within the housing and secured to the edge of the opening by the weld tab, wherein the weld tab provides weld material physically bonding the outer surface of the sensing body to the housing.

A secure electrical connector for wire conductors. An electrical connector can be pressed into place in the base of a toggle switch and includes an electrically conductive cylinder having a slot in the forward end of the electrical connector. The wire conductor is inserted into the longitudinal hole through the cylinder and protrudes from the forward end. The lateral slot deforms inward around the wire conductor as the connector is pressed in a screw terminal, securely holding the wire conductor in place.

An electrically conductive rivet functioning as a terminal reduces overall manufacturing costs and provides a higher degree of precision for mounting onto printed circuit boards. A switch enclosure apparatus and method are disclosed. An enclosure can be provided, wherein the enclosure comprises a plurality of walls from which a cavity can be formed. A plunger or other actuating mechanism can also be provided comprising one or more key portions, wherein said plunger is partially located and maintained within said cavity of said enclosure. Additionally, one or more slots can be formed from one or more walls, (e.g., side walls, top wall, bottom wall, etc.) of said enclosure for engaging said one or more of the key portions of said plunger. The plunger itself is shaped in the form of a shaft.
