A method of a forming a hollow, drug-eluting medical device includes providing composite member having an outer member and a core member disposed within a lumen of the outer member. The composite member is shaped into a pattern. Openings are formed through the outer member of the composite member. The composite member is processed to remove the core member from the lumen of the outer member without harming the outer member, leaving a hollow tubular member already formed into the desired pattern. The lumen of the outer member is filled with a therapeutic substance.

A method for treating a vascular condition is disclosed, the method comprising delivering a stent to a target region of a vessel, the stent including a drug polymer coating including an elution portion and a remaining portion, eluting the elution portion from the delivered stent for an elution period, heating the delivered stent after the elution period; and removing the remaining portion based on the heating.

A method of manufacturing a vascular treatment system includes forming a stent blank including a predetermined alloy composition including at least one base element and at least one sacrificial element. The method further includes forming a stent framework and removing at least a portion of the sacrificial element. The method also includes forming at least one pore based on the removal, bending the stent framework to a delivery shape, and attaching the bent stent framework including the formed pores to a catheter.

Method of manufacturing a controlled porosity stent

A laminated stent encapsulated with a metal coating is provided. The metal coating may be a very thin metal coating. Portions of the metal coating may be removed such that the metal coating covers voids in the laminate, particularly in the area where the different layers of the laminated stent come together. The metal coating for the laminated stent may be provided by sputtering, such as vacuum deposition or ion beam sputtering, spraying, dipping, or other known methods.

A pulmonary valve replacement system having a vascular conduit and a prosthetic valve device including a valve operably connected to a support structure. The prosthetic valve device is positioned within the vascular conduit. A conduit support includes a substantially circular cross-section. In one embodiment, the pulmonary valve replacement system includes a catheter and an inflatable member operably attached to the catheter. The prosthetic valve device is disposed on the inflatable member. The invention provides a method for replacing a pulmonary valve including providing a vascular conduit positioned at a treatment site. The vascular conduit includes a conduit support positioned adjacent the vascular conduit. A prosthetic valve device is deployed within the vascular conduit via catheter. The prosthetic valve device includes a valve operably connected to a support structure. The vascular conduit is supported with the conduit support.

Reinforced surgical conduit for implantation of a stented valve therein

A bioresorbable endoluminal prosthesis for placement in a body lumen having a stent substrate of a first metallic material that has a lower electrical potential than a standard reference electrode. The stent substrate is coated with a biodegradable polymer having a second metallic material dispersed therein, wherein the second metallic material has a higher electrical potential than the standard reference electrode. After implantation of the stent within the body lumen, the second metallic material is present in the polymeric coating in a sufficient concentration to cause galvanic corrosion of the first metallic material such that over time the stent substrate is bioresorbed.

One embodiment of the invention includes a barrier member attached to the exterior surface of the valve device. Yet another embodiment of the invention includes a method for replacing a pulmonary valve that includes forming a barrier around the outer surface of a replacement valve and preventing blood flow around the replacement valve.

Adjustable transluminal annuloplasty system

A balloon-expandable stent formed from a customized alloy formulation. The stent alloy has a either a high, variable or no work hardening rate, very high modulus of elasticity (Young's modulus), and a low yield point. A stent constructed of a material with this combination of properties undergoes significant plastic deformation upon deployment in vivo to its implantation diameter and exhibits minimum recoil for better sizing. The plastic deformation also raises the subsequent yield point of the stent material resulting in a stronger stent upon implantation that is more resistant to vascular loading.

A metallic composite coating, and methods for forming same, for an implantable medical device is disclosed. The composite coating comprises at least one metal or metallic tie layer formed on the surface of the device, followed by an electroless electrochemical cladding of one or more additional layers over the tie layer. One or more therapeutic or biologically active agents are co-deposited with at least one of the electroless electrochemical claddings.

Metallic composite coating for delivery of therapeutic agents from the surface of implantable devices

An endolumenal medical device assembly is provided for use in a bifurcation region of a body lumen. An expandable prosthesis, preferably an endolumenal support device such as a stent, is included in the assembly and is adjustable from a radially collapsed condition to a radially expanded condition. The expandable prosthesis further includes a prosthesis passageway and a side port through which the prosthesis passageway communicates externally of the prosthesis. A dilator or an access device is engaged within the prosthesis passageway and also through the side port while the expandable prosthesis is in the radially collapsed condition. By coupling a guidewire to an access device engaged within the side port and positioning the guidewire therein, the expandable prosthesis may be positioned in the bifurcation region such that its distal end portion is in a first branch lumen extending from the bifurcation, its proximal end portion is in a common proximal lumen of the bifurcation region, and the side port is aligned with an entrance zone to a second branch lumen extending from the bifurcation. When the expandable prosthesis is positioned at the bifurcation region in this orientation, the access device maintains percutaneous translumenal access to the second branch lumen through the prosthesis passageway and the side port while the expandable prosthesis is adjusted from the radially collapsed condition to the radially expanded condition. In addition, a dilator when engaged within the side port is adapted to expand the bore formed by the side port from an initial inner diameter to a larger expanded inner diameter. A second, lateral expandable prosthesis can also be coupled to the first expandable prosthesis at a location adjacent to the side port such that the dilator or access device extending through the side port is engaged within a lateral prosthesis lumen, extending through the lateral expandable prosthesis.

Methods and apparatus for remodeling an extravascular tissue structure

A medical apparatus and method suitable for remodeling a mitral valve annulus adjacent to the coronary sinus. The apparatus comprises an elongate body having a proximal region and a distal region. Each of the proximal and distal regions is dimensioned to reside completely within the vascular system. The elongate body may be moved from a first configuration for transluminal delivery to at least a portion of the coronary sinus to a second configuration for remodeling the mitral valve annulus proximate the coronary sinus. A forming element may be attached to the elongate body for manipulating the elongate body from the first transluminal configuration to the second remodeling configuration. Further, the elongate body may comprise a tube having a plurality of transverse slots therein.
