A privacy protecting transaction engine for a cloud provider network is described. According to some embodiments, a computer-implemented method includes receiving a request from a customer of a cloud provider network to create a customer cloud in the cloud provider network, generating the customer cloud in the cloud provider network, receiving a first request at the cloud provider network for the customer cloud that includes private information of an end customer of the customer of the cloud provider network, removing the private information from the first request by a privacy protecting transaction engine of the cloud provider network to generate a second request, and sending the second request to the customer cloud for servicing.

Various embodiments enable a user editing a document to tag product references in the document. These product references can then be recognizable when the document is published online, thereby enabling ad units (or other personalized units associated with the content) to be inserted either at a location associated with a particular product reference or within the document in a designated location. For example, when editing or drafting a document, a client-side tool could enable a user to tag particular words within the text to create a hyperlink to product pages of an electronic marketplace. In another example, a client-side tool could auto-insert a list of words associated with subject matter of the same. Accordingly, mentions of these words in content could be auto-converted into text-links or hyperlinks to a respective items page of the electronic marketplace.

Content tagging

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for optimization of ad request fulfillment for mobile device applications. In one embodiment, a system may receive an ad request from a mobile device, and determine a first price point associated with a publisher of the ad request. The system may send a bid request to ad servers, receive a first bid with a first bid amount, and may determine that the first bid amount is a highest bid amount. The system may determine that the first price point is less than the first bid amount, and may send the first bid amount and the first price point to the mobile device, where the mobile device is configured to send the first bid amount and the first price point to a publisher ad server, and the publisher ad server is configured to determine that the first bid amount is a winning bid amount.

Optimization of ad request fulfillment for mobile device applications

Various embodiments identify candidate phrases users have used to reference a product in previous searches by analyzing query logs of a search engine. Upon identifying a candidate phrase within a volume of unstructured text, the candidate phrase is compared against a corpus of contemporary language. A frequency of each candidate phrase in contemporary language and the same in the query logs are determined and used as an indication to distinguish between genuine product references in the text or their normal use in common language in order to determine whether the volume of unstructured text is suitable, based on the number of references, for a hyperlink to a product page for the product of an electronic marketplace. Furthermore, behavioral data associated with user interaction with various aspects of the hyperlinks can be tracked over time to better identify suitable product references and tailor future hyperlink suggestions.

Extracting product references from unstructured text

A content publisher can use a publisher tool to tag various content elements, which enables a user viewing content from the publisher to view related advertising. In at least some embodiments, the tool is a toolbar that the publisher can use to tag content elements such as images and text, whereby the toolbar can recommend related items to be linked to those content elements. The items can be associated with an entity, such as an advertiser or electronic retailer, that will provide some level of compensation to the publisher in return for the linking. Such an approach enables the publisher to monetize the content in a way that is minimally intrusive for the end user.

Electronic publishing mechanisms

Certain embodiments herein relate to targeting ads for purchase by leveraging relationships between advertisers and publishers. Ad campaigns may be established between an ad device associated with an advertiser and publisher devices associated with publishers. An ad campaign for displaying an ad may be determined based on information associated with a communication session from a user device (e.g., as identified in a cookie) and/or information associated with a user utilizing the user device. An ad device may activate one or more established ad campaigns as part of an auction process, and may subsequently provide one or more ads for displaying on a web page according to attributes that may characterize the ad campaigns.

Targeted ad buys via managed relationships

Certain embodiments herein relate to attributing or associating a user's actions with respect to web page content to the multivariate test parameters. For example, a user's purchase of a product after clicking on an ad in the web page content may be attributed to multivariate test parameters corresponding to the placement of the ad, the size of the ad image, whether a border is placed around the ad, any number of attributes associated with the ad, the content in which the ad is placed, etc. In certain embodiments, a user's actions may occur at a device that is separate from the publisher device. Techniques described herein may attribute or associate such actions with a publisher's web page content such that publishers may be made aware of the effectiveness of the placement, layout, orientation, etc., of their web page content based on how users reacted to such attributes.

Attributing web-based user actions to multivariate test parameters associated with publisher content

A method for using metadata in digital media or streams to offer goods and/or services for sale including defining and promoting a specification for embedding goods and/or services offerings in programming digital media or digital streams and providing an application programming interface (API) to facilitate building a custom checkout user interface on a digital media playing device. The method also includes receiving, at a server or service via the custom checkout user interface, at least one of consumer orders for offered goods and/or services and requests to place offered goods and/or services on a consumers' list.
