A process for producing a sulfamyl fluoride composition includes providing a solution comprising fluorosulfonic acid, urea and a solvent; reacting the solution at a reaction temperature from 80° C. to about 170° C. to produce a mixture including sulfamyl fluoride, bis(fluorosulfonyl) imide, ammonium fluorosulfate and the solvent; separating the ammonium fluorosulfate from the mixture; and separating the mixture into a sulfamyl fluoride composition and a recycle composition, the sulfamyl fluoride composition including a higher concentration of sulfamyl fluoride and bis(fluorosulfonyl) imide than the recycle composition. A mole ratio of the fluorosulfonic acid to the urea in the solution is from about 1.80:1 to about 2.00:1.

Sulfamyl fluoride compositions and processes for making sulfamyl fluoride compositions

A method of producing purified bis(fluorosulfonyl) imide includes providing a liquid mixture including bis(fluorosulfonyl) imide and fluorosulfonic acid and then contacting the liquid mixture with gaseous ammonia. The gaseous ammonia reacts with the fluorosulfonic acid to produce ammonium fluorosulfate. The method further includes separating the liquid mixture from the ammonium fluorosulfate.

Purification of bis(fluorosulfonyl) imide

A process for treating an ammonium fluorosulfate byproduct includes providing an ammonium fluorosulfate byproduct including primarily ammonium fluorosulfate and lesser amounts of fluorosulfonic acid and bis(fluorosulfonyl) imide, mixing the ammonium fluorosulfate byproduct with water, reacting the mixture of the ammonium fluorosulfate byproduct and the water at a hydrolysis reaction temperature to hydrolyze the ammonium fluorosulfate, the fluorosulfonic acid and the bis(fluorosulfonyl) imide to form ammonium bisulfate and aqueous hydrogen fluoride; and separating the ammonium bisulfate from the aqueous hydrogen fluoride.

Integrated processes for treatment of an ammonium fluorosulfate byproduct of the production of bis (fluorosulfonyl) imide

A process for producing bis(fluorosulfonyl) imide includes providing a solution comprising fluorosulfonic acid and urea, the solution maintained at a solution temperature from about 0&#xb0; C. to about 70&#xb0; C.; reacting the solution in the presence of a reaction medium at a reaction temperature from 80&#xb0; C. to about 170&#xb0; C. to produce a product stream including bis(fluorosulfonyl) imide, ammonium fluorosulfate and the reaction medium; separating the ammonium fluorosulfate from the product stream to produce an intermediate product stream; and separating the intermediate product stream into a concentrated product stream and a first recycle stream, the concentrated product stream including a higher concentration of bis(fluorosulfonyl) imide than the first recycle stream.

Integrated processes for producing bis(fluorosulfonyl) imide

A method of preparing aqueous hydrogen fluoride is provided. The method includes providing a composition including a cross-linked polymer with absorbed hydrogen fluoride. The cross-linked copolymer includes acrylamide units and acrylic acid salt units. The method further includes contacting the composition with water to release at least a portion of the hydrogen fluoride from the composition to the water to form the aqueous hydrogen fluoride.

Processes and systems for the production of phosphorus pentafluoride (PF) through continuous fluorination of phosphorus are provided herein. A phosphorus feed stream and a fluorine feed stream are provided to a reactor, wherein they are reacted in a gas-gas or liquid-gas reaction to produce phosphorus pentafluoride (PF). The phosphorus feed can be derived from white phosphorus or yellow phosphorus, and can be provided to the reactor as a liquid or a vapor. The fluorine can be provided to the reactor as a vapor, and preferably comprises elemental fluorine gas.

Methods and reactor designs for producing phosphorus pentafluoride

The present technology provides compositions that are intimate mixtures of hydrogen fluoride and a polyacrylate-polyacrylamide cross-linked copolymer, as well as methods and preparing and using such compositions. The compositions are less hazardous and, therefore, more conveniently stored, transported, and handled in comparison to pure hydrogen fluoride.
