A shaped thermal filler particle has an elongate shape defined by a substantially planar first smooth surface and a second smooth surface that contacts the substantially planar first smooth surface along a planar closed path. The planar closed path has a length to width ratio of at least 1.5. The shaped thermal filler particle has a maximum linear dimension normal to the planar first smooth surface that is less than or equal to one half of the length of the closed path. A thermally conductive composition comprises from 1 to 95 percent by volume of the shaped thermal filler particles dispersed in a binder. An assembly comprises a heat source, a heat sink, and the thermally conductive composition at least partially sandwiched between the heat source and the heat sink.

A touch screen sensor includes a visible light transparent substrate and an electrically conductive micropattern disposed on or in the visible light transparent substrate. The micropattern includes a first region micropattern within a touch sensing area and a second region micropattern. The first region micropattern has a first sheet resistance value in a first direction, is visible light transparent, and has at least 90% open area. The second region micropattern has a second sheet resistance value in the first direction. The first sheet resistance value is different from the second sheet resistance value.

Touch screen sensor

The present disclosure provides a thermally conductive article including a pad having first and second opposed major surfaces and a thickness therebetween. The thickness is formed of entangled thermally conductive fibers and at least a portion of the entangled thermally conductive fibers have at least one terminal end at the first opposed major surface, the opposed second major surface, or both. The pad is at least partially impregnated with a polymer. Another thermally conductive article is provided including a) a pad having first and second opposed major surfaces and a thickness therebetween; b) a first thermally conductive skin layer; and c) a second thermally conductive skin layer. The thickness of the pad is formed of aligned thermally conductive fibers, and at least a portion of the thermally conductive fibers have a terminal end at the first opposed major surface and the opposed second major surface. The first and second thermally conductive skin layers each include a polymeric matrix at least partially embedded in the terminal end of at least a portion of the thermally conductive fibers at the first and second major surfaces of the pad, respectively. Methods of making the thermally conductive articles are also provided.

Thermally conductive articles including entangled or aligned fibers, methods of making same, and battery modules

An optical construction includes a reflective polarizer layer having a first pass axis and an absorptive polarizer layer having a second pass axis that is substantially aligned with the first pass axis. At least one electrically conductive light scattering layer is arranged between the reflective polarizer layer and the absorptive polarizer layer.

Article () comprising a substrate () comprising a polymer and having first () and second () opposed major surfaces. The first major surface () has first surface regions () with first nanoparticles () partially embedded into the first major surface (), and one of &#x2022;(a) second surface regions () free of nanoparticles; or &#x2022;(b) second surface regions () with at least second nanoparticles () on the first major surface () or partially embedded into the first major surface (). The first surface regions () have a first average surface roughness, R, of at least 20 nm, wherein the second surface regions () have a second average surface roughness, R, of less than 100 nm, wherein the first average surface roughness, R, is greater than the second average surface roughness, R, and wherein there is an absolute difference between the first and second average surface roughness of at least 10 nm.

Article and methods of making the same

Articles comprising a substrate having a first major surface; an electrical conductor pattern on the first major surface of the substrate, the electrical conductor pattern comprising a plurality of separated pairs of separated first and second electrically conductive metallic traces. Optionally the articles further comprise a first electrically conductive layer. Embodiments of articles described herein are useful in, for example, displays, touch sensors, lighting elements, photovoltaic cells, electrochromic windows and displays, and electroluminescent lamps and displays.

Electrically conductive articles

Capacitive sensing devices are provided that include a sensing pattern of conductive traces disposed upon the surface of a substrate and a first passive circuit element that includes a metallic conductor disposed upon the same surface of the substrate. In some embodiments, the first passive circuit element is a component of an electronic circuit that can be, for example, a low pass filter. Provided capacitive sensing devices are useful, for example, when incorporated into projected touch screen display panels for use on electronic devices.

Integrated passive circuit elements for sensing devices

A method of patterning a conductive layer to form transparent electrical conductors that does not require etching is disclosed. The method includes peeling a strippable polymer layer from a substrate coated with the conductive layer to pattern the conductive layer. In some embodiments, a resist matrix material is patterned over the conductive layer to prevent removal of the conductive layer beneath the resist matrix material. In other embodiments, a liner having a pressure sensitive adhesive surface is brought into contact with the patterned strippable polymer material to remove both the patterned strippable polymer material and the conductive layer beneath it.

Method of making transparent conductors on a substrate

A photochromic article is provided, containing a structural component, a fluid in contact with the structural component, and a polyoxometalate complex in contact with the fluid. The polyoxometalate complex includes a counter cation complexed with either a polyoxometalate anion or a polyoxometalate derivative anion. The structural component includes a porous material, a plurality of cavities, or both. The article is photochromic. A method of changing a light transmission of a photochromic article is provided, as is a method of changing a light reflectance of a photochromic article. A method of forming a photochromic article is also provided.
