Fluid handling couplings can include a main body with a front face and defining a longitudinal axis. Fluid handling couplings can include a post extending parallel to the longitudinal axis, and a post receptacle. Fluid handling couplings can include a seal coupled to the main body around the longitudinal axis. A portion of the seal can protrude from the front face of the main body. Fluid handling couplings can include a removable membrane releasably attached to the front face of the main body and covering the portion of the seal protruding from the front face of the main body. Fluid handling couplings can be genderless, can include manually openable valves, and can be configured for single-use aseptic fluid handling usage.

Fluid couplings

Some fluid coupling devices described herein are configured for use in fluid systems for purposes of providing a single-use, aseptic disconnection functionality that substantially prevents fluid spillage when being disconnected. In some embodiments, the coupling portions cannot be functionally reconnected to each other after being disconnected from each other.

Aseptic fluid couplings

Fluid coupling devices described herein can used in a bioprocessing facility, for example. In some cases, the fluid coupling devices can be used to couple bioprocessing equipment to a media source in a sterilized environment. The fluid coupling devices can include a two-position valve that is manually actuatable and reconfigurable between a first configuration and a second configuration.

Some fluid coupling devices described herein are configured for use in fluid systems. For example, some embodiments described in this document are single-use, aseptic fluid coupling devices that can be coupled to create a sterile flow path therethrough. Some such aseptic couplings are genderless couplings such that two identical aseptic couplings can be coupled together and then latched to form a robust connection between the aseptic couplings.
