An image input/output apparatus and method includes a light source in optical communication with a spatial radiation modulator for projecting an output image and an image sensor for capturing an input image along a shared input/output path. In a described embodiment, the display of an output image and the capture of an input image is effected using a common spatial radiation modulator (SRM) in the form of a deformable mirror device (DMD).

According to one embodiment of the present invention a method for capturing images on a screen is disclosed. The method includes directing light from a surface of a spatial light modular to an image field using a projection system; capturing light from the image field using the projection system, the projection system directing at least a portion of the captured light to the spatial light modulator; and directing at least a portion of the received captured light to an image capture system using the spatial light modulator.

Methods and apparatus for a display system include a frame and one or more screen panels. Each panel has an inwardly disposed face and an outwardly disposed face. An adhesive layer couples to respective portions of each inwardly disposed face. At least one of the adhesive layers couples the one or more screen panels to the frame.

An embodiment comprises a collimating layer positioned in a light path of a display plane, and a diffusion layer positioned in the light path of the display plane after the collimating layer. The diffusion layer increases the viewing angle of the display plane. The collimating layer comprises a first lens having first and second axes orthogonal to each other and to the light path and a second lens positioned in the light path after the first lens, the second lens having first and second axes orthogonal to each other and to the light path. The first lens is configured along its first axis to redirect light towards the light path and the second lens is configured along its first and second axes to redirect light towards the light path so that the light is substantially parallel to the light path.

System and method for displaying images

Methods and apparatus for rendering plural channels on a common display are provided. In a method embodiment, a method for allowing sharing of a display by a plurality of users wishing to view a plurality of respective images includes displaying the plurality of respective images sequentially on the display. The method further includes selectively allowing the respective image to be viewed by the respective user, but not by any other of the plurality of users.
